Ryanair Slams
I smell the lawsuit brewing already. Are we taking any bets to see how long it is before the blogger files suit against the airline for defamation. Not saying he'll get anything, that just seems to be the way these things go.
"Ryanair can confirm that a Ryanair staff member did engage in a blog discussion," he told CNN. "It is Ryanair policy not to waste time and energy in corresponding with idiot bloggers, and Ryanair can confirm that it won't be happening again. Lunatic bloggers can have the blog sphere all to themselves, as our people are far too busy driving down the cost of air travel."

Woah, twisting the truth a bit there.
Rather suprised that Wired is responsible as well.
Basically, the blogger pointed out a flaw in the website and apparently critisied RyanAir's website team, who in turn responded in the way most people would when you're lacking knowledge yet insult something someone has built, most development teams would respond in the same way.
The dev team don't sound happy about their working conditions and seem to be proud of what they've made.
Bit of a harsh response from the team, but not indicative of RyanAir really, just a development team.

Except that it is really. More than one department/spokesman have spoken out in very belligerent tones about their attitude and customer service. They admit freely that it's shit, as far as they're concerned if you want a nice comfy flight with smiles and food then you can fuck off to an airline that charges more and get it. They give you a seat and nothing else.
As for the dev team speaking out personally instead of as a company it doesn't matter. Corporate laws as they are can easily pull all of RyanAir into it.
It's like if a company rep is talking on his own mobile to a grot line whilst driving and splats someone; the company board can be charged, fined and/or imprisoned. Despite his company phone being hands free and him not meant to have his personal mobile the board can still be collared for manslaughter. More serious yes, but absolving yourself of an employee's actions is rather hard these days.
I see what you're saying, but I think you missed what I was getting at.
That article tries to make it seem like a direct comment and attack from RyanAir in an official capacity whereas really it's just employees individually having a crack.

I know that it's individuals, but you seemed to be applying a degree of separation that in my mind no longer exists. It is in effect a direct attack, whether they want it to be or not.
The article sensationalises it and you didn't expect it from that site. But in the end the trend appears to be a need to tart every article up or not get it read. Even if that's just not the case.
Shame that 'learned' internet sites have followed down the path of short words in big type with lots of excessive alarmist punctuation. Soon even broadsheets will be picking headlines with words that are short and snappy as opposed to factually accurate. The horror.
