Depopulation

Post by friznit »

Having read this article about multiple progeny clogging up the planet, I hit upon some awesome ideas for removing unwanted population from the gene pool.

Basically, park a big spaceship in Essex, stick a sign on it saying "I'm a Big Brother Got Talent Get Them Outa Here Auditions Inside", wait for it to fill and up and fire it into the sun.

What fantastic ideas do you have? Bonus points for diagrams.

heh, im not sure thats your idea.
In HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy a ship was full of telephone sanitisers and insurance salesmen etc - the home planet of which had packed them up and shot them into space :P
Unfortunately they crashed on ancient earth. or so the story goes.

in all seriousness though depopulation is quite important i think.

Its quite a strong stance, but if serious criminals were to have their reproductive areas irradiated so as not to be able to have kids, i think it may have a couple of benefits - no children brought up such an unstable environment and an extra deterrent for criminals.

However how this would undoubtedly be a nightmare to manage, I cant see it ever being put into practice.

How about an artificially introduced virus of some sort that is passed on by having sex, to encourage the use of condoms. Especially in those dirty overpopulated places like Africa.

Oh wait, aids!

Oooh, did you see the AR version they've been tinkering with at the Introversion offices? Exciting stuff.

Did anyone else think 'How about a game of chess?' on seeing that picture?

Wow, you seem to be serious about this stuff, which I really hope you're not.

Anway, you could ship them all to Africa for about 20 years, so they can experience what a hard life is all about, and those who survive the wars and the AIDS will probably be happy to do some work when they come back, and thus contribute to society.

/has not thought this through and is not being serious.

Turn off sky television, stop all reality tv shows, sports and soap operas for a week. I'd love to see what would happen.

The people that this kind of stuff sedates will become aware and probably start forming opinions about stuff that actually matters. The world as we know it would be destroyed.

I'm waiting for the analogue -> digital switchover for normal TV.

That'll have the affect of at least a portion of the population going without TV for a while. The recession is beneficial to that as people will be less inclined to upgrade their tele's.

Mmmm, pretty pretty Defcon. I wish I had the time to take Grimmie up on his offer of a tutorial.

My modest proposal is here. I believe this method of control is compatible with the over-population issue.

Now you see dogpants, what you need to do, is get defcon whitelisted by the various station nets, and then you, anery, me, chickenz and jew could all join together in mutual nukeage over the intranet via the medium of 'office' mode.... (bonus points if you get TS on there as well...)

I'm currently in Africa (South Africa to be precise) where AIDS is at 25%, and corruption is in your face.
My wifes family hire a maid very occasionally (they're not that rich themselves but they're doing OK through hard work) and pay her R50 a day (£3.30) - barely enough to buy a BigMac meal!

So yeah, ship all the chav's and the people on the longterm dole here and let them see how good they have it. I promise you there's no dole, NHS or easy life here.

(Speaking of NHS though, I had a problem over here, and managed to get a referral, X-ray, another referral and ultrasonogram in 24 hours for a non-lifethreatening complaint - all because I'm "rich" and paid cash! Try doing that on the NHS! I've still got a friend waiting for a scan from November)
