Fancy some mining?

Angels of Darkness will build an Obelisk for 1 bill, or 200 BYOM or 100 BYOC. Mineral req's are in the shared sheet

So hang on, I suggest mining for a freighter and it gets shot down as far far too mad, but now you want to do that? Hmm, fair enough 8)

EDIT: You know, that's weird, I'm sure I remeber getting told no. Ah well. Link

I know that a very small number of corp members (I not amongst them, at least not in the last 4 months) do just about all the hauling and that the amount of hauling required is going up with the institutiuon of the POS chain. So, what I say below is not meant as criticism, only an open discussion. I am happy to help where I'm able with whatever the corp decides.

I recall this previous discussion about freighters aswell hehulk, although that was a while ago and the corp has perhaps moved on since then. That is to say; it may have been a little ambitious at the time but perhaps more attainable now.

On the other hand (and I'm not having a go, just opening a discussion)....

What do we want a freighter for?

Move stuff in empire
Move stuff to the POS
others?

To move stuff through 0.0, are we able to support this properly, or will we be able to fly with ISSL? I always thought the main problem was that we couldn't. For empire freight, do we have the demand and with back-to-back war decs, I assume we'd still need support?

following this, I know they cost more (1Bn in skill books for a start, from what I was told last night) but wouldn't something with a jump drive be more useful to us?

Perhaps the plan is to get both. 200M is pretty much sod all for us to raise.

My vote is go for it, if it is needed and / or easy to get.

I'm around till Thursday night and am happy to haul for our valiant miners

crap! i was kind hoping everyone would look at the numbers and say "are you fucking nuts? i'm not mining for that!" i just happened to be fiddling with cap ship production last night and thought i'd post some figures. that said, the intent is to get a freighter sometime, but most likely the pilot will be Dres and it'll be kept to empire (shifting large amounts of pos fuel around).

the main goal remains the other toy - and that's the one that the skills cost 1 bill for - and will provide the core of our 0.0 logistics (~46k m3 per run with badgers/iterons on board).

however, if people really are willing to mine, i'd suggest we look into building some components for the main toy? (can you get component bpc's?)

You can, with great ease off the escrow in Jita. Oh, and silver can make them, since I wasted a load of isk on capital ship construction.

not entirely true. the chain is stable, fc's are on the up, stins is back from his hols and i have a few days off to get it sorted. don't give up just as it gets challenging! this is the fun bit :)

As some time has passed since this first was brought up, i'm very close to flying things with Jump Drives, and I think Fea *can* fly them so would it be worth looking into one of them to directly fuel our own towers or will this make us suddenly a very big target for non-ISS bods?

You did indeed say no. Perhaps there's where my memory of getting a universal no comes from. That aside, we've got several options for zydrine mining, megacyte could be a problem as well but less so because of our access to Spodumain. Asside the amount of man hours it would take to mine all that, I do see and agree with your concern in how this might kick our already somewhat unstable fuel situation over the edge. That would have to be very carefully watched.

Mark it down as a possibly?

Think the idea of this is to make empire logistics a damn sight easier, as currently once a month we all climb into haulers and haul fuel left right and centre. With a freighter we could do 90% of it with one ship (leave the low sec stuff to blockade runners).

yep. just to clarify where we're going. fea is close to piloting a carrier but needs the last 3 skill books (950mill in total). soon as that's done we start looking at building the ship (byoc/byom or whatever). after that's all done, we buy dres the 2 skills to pilot a freighter and look at building the obelisk.

main task now is to get the last pos up - hopefully thisavo - and the fernite carbs sold so we can buy a month or two of fuel and ship it down. after that all isk pay back of loans and then -> cap ships.

FYI, drone skills don't affect fighters. Only the fighter skill and ship bonuses of carriers and motherships do. CCP droped that on us a couple of months back :(

Ok, I've been looking at the numbers of what (I think) everyones mining skills are, and assuming we had a nice big roid belt or two to destroy, we could if everyone* was there mine all the low ends** in 4-5 hours. And most of that is because of the trit requirements of a carrier (Assuming the BPCs are ME 50, which is pretty much the standard these days)

*Meaning Silver, Mano, Fea, Fab, Shot2bits, Spear, Les and Mir

**Trit, Pyerite, Mexallon, Isogen or Nocxium

Im about the same distance away actually (I think), and by the time ive moved, and got back online, I should be able to fly them pretty well. Got about 9 days to advanced ship 5, less than a day to drones interfacing 5, and my shield skills are suitable high as well. Warp drive 5 should only be a few days and I brought the Jump Drive skillbook a while ago... :boogie:

ill need Marge back if im going to mine :P Although as im going to be gone for a month or so, I will leave it for general corp use until I return.

(And if we get that turnout, itll need more than a belt or 2 to sustain us!)

How much are Hulks these days?
