GuildWars bored me after about a week. I really wanted to like it as well, as I'd enjoyed the beta and it wasn't WoW, but it just didn't grab me.
I just got stuck pretty early on, taking more than 1 monster on at a time meant instant death, so it became a rather tedious crawl. Never actually managed to communicate with anyone in the game either, so a rather lonely experience too.

I guess it just did the right kind of things for me from the outset.FatherJack wrote:GuildWars bored me after about a week. I really wanted to like it as well, as I'd enjoyed the beta and it wasn't WoW, but it just didn't grab me.

as soon as I got through the first (training) stage I was able to hook up with people and converse in text with teams. Voice chat has added an excellent dimension to it too.
if anyone has an account they don't use, I'd be happy to level up a character for them or even take on the account for them...

i played it for a month or so...not sure what came first that or EQ2 which I only played for a month also. But, they both seemed to be quite similar and after my 5yr stint with EQ1...its hard to play something easy.
I'm trying not to knock them because they looked beautiful and was fun the limited time I played them. I just think they are tweaked towards family/kids and the casual player...which i am none of the above.
You might be saying "Go back to your stinkin EQ1" to me...but thats becoming the issue there as well. Every patch/expansion is making it just like those above.
I loved CoH and EVE so much for the first 3months. Then they both just got so repetitive...to me. Obviously, I didn't see ALL of those games and I could have found some more new things to do but at that point it seemed like a lot of effort/work and less fun.
ps WTB MMO thats more complicated and less familiy orientated with lots of skills/equip to acquire with a goal to be reached within a year.
/me thinks MMO's should have a lifespan of a year
anyways, just woke up from a bad night of almost choking to death on regurgitated bar food so please excuse the ramblings...

I started Guild Wars early on, 13 months now, and I must admit it was my first experience of the whole Mighty Morphin' Online Ranger Games thingy. My first because I was a bit worried about the very thing that happened to; I got addicted. Fortunately, it's a bit cheaper to play this than Wow, so all is good. Guild wise, until we made Clan 4rthur, there wasn't much going on on that front, my original guild was shit. Fortunately, I made a good friend early on, and we usually ended up playing at similar times and progressing together. That's probably what maintained my interest in the game, the fact that you could progress with your friends.
That still occurs to some extent now, more so than when it was just jiva, munkt0n, dhobi and myself. Everyone is mostly high level, so we end up helping out more, or having fun than struggling through the early missions. I still enjoy Guild Wars, and with the adition of a new chapter, it's more about having something new to do than anything else. Hell, i'm still nowhere near finishing cantha!
