Patch 1.4 Beta 2

Post by deject »

http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/fu ... p?id=83948

Road to Jalalabad
- Tickets adjustements
- Removal of 1 US tank to help address balance issues.

No Vehicles Option
- Added a new Server Browser felcher option for No Vehicles
- Return Health to default BF2 level
- Return Medic pack and Revive values to Default BF2
- Default spawn times to Default BF2 setting.
- No Vehicles is now a ranked server option!

We kept:
- Keep the current sprint bar setting (I.e. 2x sprint)
- Keep the current Vehicle exclusion list (i.e. we are not introducing light jeeps etc, just keeping the boats on Carrier levels).

Is this necessary to play on servers?

I'd rather wait till it wasn't a beta before loading it narf.
My Beef is running brilliantly, and I don't wanna install this for nothing

strictly optional at this point. I'm not touching it either, but someone here probably will.

I'm not bothering with it either since I won't be able to play on normal servers. And beef patches are usually bad enough as it is, I dare not think what a beta patch is like.

Yeah, waiting till becomes official as well. They normally release patches with shit loads of bugs anyway, so it's a bit strange to suddenly start acting smartly and making the beta patches avaible world wide.

I think they realised a lot of the bugs weren't easy to reproduce on a very limited amount of test systems.

I.. I don't think they consider the server browser broke. Or they do and just don't give a shit.

there's a few random bugs with it for some people, likeit only loading 900 servers, and the faves list emptying and fucking up.

and the fact it's shite

I tried the beta 1 patch and made a backup on my beef directory before installing, that way I can switch from 1.3 to 1.4 just by renaming the 2 directories I now have. The theory is that they will be isolated and the 1.4 patch should not effect my 1.3 installation. Only thing is the game has become a little unstable since I installed the patch so I can't recommend anyone else doing this. It may be unrelated but it's put me off.

The problem with my browser is that sometimes the search felcher doesn't work, say if I type in EA, it won't find any servers that begin with EA and then, in order to find servers again, even without searching for them, I have to quit Beef and start it up again.

Oh, the favourite's empting too is a bitch.

But this is definatly not the worst bug I've had.

This.

It's never worked for me, regardless of the search term, very ghey. I'd also echo what Gunslinger said; an EA Beta patch seems like a very bad idea.

Yup. Without being flippant; it is a great idea. Certainly not something I would risk tho :)

current problem is there's like 6 test servers, and no server files.

making it fucking difficult to do any proper bug-finding. rather than running around with 400 omfg noobs bunny hopping around as medics.

'If I were ever to become a games coder:'

I would ensure that people cannot make sixteen, four foot high jumps in five seconds, and;

A (supposedly elite) soldier COULD CLIMB A FUCKING THIRTY DEGREE INCLINE WITHOUT IT LOOKING LIKE HE WAS GOING THE WRONG WAY UP AN ESCALATOR.
