Any clues?
Forum answers that google bought up seem to be vague and weird.
Doesn't seem to happen at any particular trigger.
Lead to believe it may be something to do with my router.

System event viewer seems to show my computer cycling through trying to get an address from DHCP and then realising that I'm connected to the network on TCIP.

Looks like a faulty RAM or driver to me.

Happen randomly or on a shutdown/startup? How long has you had it? Is this the first time? It could well be that a network bridge or similar is fucking it all up.

Unfortunately the d1 stop turns up after all kinds of different problems, I wish they'd bothered to use more codez.

Update drivers, examine IRQ conflicts, if doesn't show errors, run memtest.

Thinking about it, try going control panel > network gubbins > properties > tcp/ip properties.

and set it to use the following IP.

Then set it manually to the IP your router already gives you, and the gateway to your router's IP.

Added more RAM lately? Sounds network cardy, try setting it to 100M rather than Auto and disabling any extra protocols/services like IP6, IPX, or disable the existing NIC and try another.

Not added any more RAM. Doesn't seem to happen at any fixed point.
It's happened at startup, and in the middle of a game for example.

I've only just recently turned off auto-restart and noted down the last two BSODs, they were the same.

No recent changes other than a new soundcard a few weeks ago.

Not added any ram, not changed my wireless card/router at all.

What's the card? Did you use supplied drivers? They might not be reference for the card and be playing silly buggers.

It doesn't have the latest firmware, granted.

Sorry for the complication in the previous post, little sidetracked with the issues building my Dad's new box - the Asus P5NSLI's onboard NIC has issues with 4GB RAM.

While building it was quite surprised at the new Velociraptors from WD - they're basically 2.5" drives screwed onto a massive heatsink.

Yup. as you've played with one, how noisy are they compared to a normal raptor?

Really quiet, the one I've played with was a 76G model, had to strain to hear it over his general system noise, which isn't that loud. I've just (like 15 minutes ago) ordered a 300G model to replace my pair of 150Gs. Noise isn't a massive issue for me, it's the amazing performance, beating quite a few SAS drives, that sold it to me.

Try disabling/re-enabling your on-board lan and perhaps uninstalling it completely and reinstalling it using your mobo drivers (or go on the internet). Don't bother with memtest, its not your RAM.

Did as Berk suggested. Didn't get the event viewer doing anything silly last night.
