I wasn't going to bother, but things are happening in my game that I don't think are scripted but might be. If they're not this game is awesome.
So I'm setting out the format of putting the quest title above the spoiler so you know if you can safely read it or not.
So, here's what I'm wondering about so far:
Mr Burke in Megaton:
The Family gang quest (Blood Ties?)
This happen to anyone else, or was it just randomness?

For the first one, the same thing happened to me.
For the second quest I did exactly the same as you but

Tenpenny towers -
Anyone been the nuka cola plant? I wandered into it randomly -
Anyone been to 'the best town in the usa', Arndale iirc. I stumbled into there as well, good job I talked to the old man first!

If you're not planning on working the main quest for a bit, if you discover Vault 112, just turn around. I can't say any more without spoiling much but yeah don't go in there if you're not supposed to for the main quest. It will be really confusing for a start because you won't know wtf is going on.
As for Megaton,
And yeah those Talon Company assholes are tough motherfuckers. I took out their leader already though. That bastard can take a fucking beating. I hit him with I think 5 or 6 missiles and he still had over half of his health. Thank god I destroyed his missile launcher from the start or I would have been screwed. He's located in

I guess I just did the Simm thing too early, as I only had a 10mm pistol and it just took too many shots. Mind you,
.
At any rate, I like how random events can be so game changing.

I stumbled upon that place by accident. I was taking so much fire from mercs and robots that i had to go INTO the fort to hide, and ended up exploring the place with a StealthBoy and ultimately got to the leader.
I hit her once with a knife in the back, and then the Mysterious Stranger appeared and revolvered her fucking head right off.
.
Side note: the Dart Gun is fantastic.

The Shishkabob is the best Melee weapon I've found so far. It sets people on fire when you hit them, totally awesome.

I did the same as DP with Burke, but
I had an oddity with Arefu too, which I had thought was a glitch. I'd
, went back once, saw the guy
back, all ok. Came back later (being chased by a mirelurk which ate their cow and run away) walked into Arefu and said hi - only saw the old guy there. After I spent a moment gazing into the distance for no particular reason, the old guy suddenly shouted at me and opened fire. Since I assumed it was a glitch, I reloaded a save, but it may have been deliberate if I'd maybe led someone there inadvertantly, or if they just noticed the cow.
Haven't managed to get a house yet, although I did find a couple of beds that go green once you kill everyone nearby. First one is near Big Town and the second was behind the first subway entrance. Sleeping for a mere hour seems to max out your health, which is very welcome given I'm typically limping around on half or lower, scrounging every bit of irradiated mystery meat.
Also, I'd
really like somewhere to store stuff, being a bit of a weapon-hoarder.

Jack, I'm not sure but I think if you find a friendly base somewhere and you're able to loot the lockers without getting done for theft, you can store your shit there. the containers don't appear to reset like in Oblivion. I've had stuff stored in the Brotherhood lockers in the Galaxy News building for a good few game days now, and it's all still there.
Incidentally, did any of you accept Mr Burke's offer?
Also, very early main quest spoiler (ie straight after Megaton)

Everywhere's red, even when I've saved their asses/completed the quest chain/etc. It's only where I've slaughtered everyone, like the shop, that they're green. Guess I'll stash a few in there and hope it doesn't disappear, although a proper house would be better.

Guys, it's all well and good blanking out spoilers, but you need to note what they are so we know if they'll spoil anything before we read it. I've not got to Galaxy Radio yet and already I know more than I'd like to about it.
