If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Yeah, I second Dreamweaver for most people, it'll do pretty much everything someone needs for a functional website.

Dreamweaver CS3, CS4 beta if you feel adventurous.
The adobe website has 30 day trials of all of it's software.

NVU if you want to try out a free WYSIWYG editor first, Notepad++ if you want to do it properly.

Actually Nvu is dead, some people have sort of continued it with Kompozer I think.

Yeah, Notepad++ is fantastic, use it for a lot of my programming.
However, you get out what you put in, if you can code great, if you can't you need something helping you (like most people)
Also Jew, that website has a 403 verboten issue.

verboten = forbidden
It is normally caused when there isn't a default page, such as index.htm or index.html or default.php etc, and the directory doesn't permit listing.

You should Amblin, it's great. The colour formatting makes programming much much easier and efficient, not to mention the option to shink sections down is handy as fuck, plus it's supports a silly amount of languages and can be linked directly to any compilers on your system.
And it's free.
And there's a portable version available.

Yeah if you're not coding something that is best done with a full blown SDK/framework, then advanced editors like Notepad++ (which I use) are great. I've used it for some simple PHP edits on the Gallery2 installation I did for my mom's photography website.
