XP problems with old games

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

XP problems with old games

Post by Dog Pants »

Anyone know of any decent fixes for old games so they work in XP? I've tried the stuff it suggests on Home Of The Underdogs - playing with the compatibility modes and such - but I'm not sure I've ever got it to have any effect. Surely it can't be as difficult as it seems to be*?

*I suspect it's actually far more difficult

aaaahhh.

well there's 3 sorts of games

old dos games.
old dos games that pretended to be windows games.
old windows games.

for the first 2, dosbox often has good results, for the last. voodoo.

really depends on the games though.

Well, specifically in this case Crusader (No Remorse and No Regret). I've got loads of abandonware games that I never managed to get to work though.

I've managed to get a couple of games that I tried working in dosbox okay, it's pretty good. But like Berk says it depends on the game.

By dosbox they mean DOSBox (http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1) not a DOS box.
