So....

Post by Dog Pants »

What happened with the mysteriously vanishing fuel then? Lots of shouting and waiting around, a post that magically disappeared, silence, then an emergency ice mining op.

I know the answer's probably embarrassing, but that's no reason to sweep it under the carpet, and keeping information restricted to a select few (0.0 forum notwithstanding) isn't really the 5punk way. We learn from our mistakes after all.

Nothing mysterious. Simple answer is we don't have a fucking clue  I'm pretty damn sure that Stins left with a full load from Hoth on his last run to W9. And then we filled him up with Haf and Ferro for the return trip. Somewhere along the line our fuel disappeared. The 'silence' was me, Hulk and Fea on Vent talking through the move step by step to try and work out where we'd gone wrong, if at all.

Best case is that he never did fill up and the fuel is still sitting in his hangar in Hoth. Worst case the cans were jetted at the POS without anyone noticing and have popped. Hulk PM'd Stins last night and we're waiting on an answer to the former. The last minute change of plan to ice mining was a means of damage limitation for the latter. I'll be buying a small stock of Coolant, EU and Mech Parts and running em down to the POS this afternoon with the Iso's that I hope Fab will find time to refine.

I deleted that post because it was irrelevant. It's not that disastrous if it has gone. We may have lost in the region of 110mill in fuel, but we've since mined over half of that in ice and we've tipped 300mill in the wallet for the first time in months :w00t:

Mostly frustrating more than anything. Sorry if we didn't keep you properly informed. :pie:

This :above: :above:

Sorry about not keeping everyone in the loop, but imho most of you had already guessed whjat we figgured out was the most probable thing.

Also, Stins PMd Hehulk last night in-game, and having checked his hangers there 0 fuel in them, so yes it does look like we fairly royally screwed up. Happy side the blocks of ice on Maspah now number nearly 400, and for a month we only need just over 750 for a months isotopes, so a few more days on the ice belts from me and anyone who feels like they want to help and we'll be back where we started :)

Rich, and with a months fuel at the POS

Er..think if we buy/mine a month's worth of EU, Iso's Coolant and Mech Parts (approx 50k m3) we can get Stins to move it again?

Can't see why not, so long as we pay again.

Cheers guys. I assumed all the silence was you working out what had happened and that's fair enough. I was just wondering about the result and hoping for the best. I didn't know if nothing had been said because it had been forgotten, or that it was being kept quiet because it was an embarrassing cock-up.

I say there's no reason to chastise ourselves over it too much because we still don't know what really happened. At least we've learnt from this to keep better track of what's being shipped when we move things like this.

nvm, we all need the practice mining and hauling. Looks like the Dreadnought hauling idea is a good one though...

amblin wrote:Like the guys said, silence was due to not actually knowing. If stins doesn't have it then it does look like I cocked up.

I was the person unloading fuel from the jetcans into the corp hangar array, and I know I moved 2 cans worth. That should have alerted me, as I knew (at least in the back of my mind) bfm was carrying at least four cans worth in the ship. It is possible I lost sight of them in the screen as I was looking toward the CDC, not the other way around.

I accept responsibility for the loss to the corp, and will mine ice like a bast**d until the debt is repaid. Provided I can borrow your barge again Hulk :)

Ultimately, the buck stops with me on any corp affecting issue, this is part and parcel of the job.

We know for next time to double check the unloading process!

Fea.
yes, you can borrow it, and as I recall I was sitting there with a hauler too, though I was stuck in place for 10 mins frmo the cyno field. Oh, and wiggy+friz turned up before we all logged for the night, and we all missed the cans, so lets have a quick cry again ( ) and keep on mining :)

If all four of us missed them...jeez, that's not possible. Oh what the heck. It's gone. End of story. "Repunzel, to the tower!" Ooh what's that over there?

You're not making any friends with talk like that!
