Quite possibly the first game I've actually anticipated for more than 2 years. I think I just came a little..

I'm getting a little sick of this "you must play 1 & 2" clique that the preview author seems to be a member of.

I can be hard for a post-apocalyptic game without sitting through hours of turn-based isometric combat that looked a bit dated even when it was new, thank-you-very-much.

If it's as good as hoped, they will be able to deliver the story effectively to a first-time player, just as The Silmarillion is not required reading before attempting the Lord of the Rings.

:above: :above: all of that.

I've considered trying to play fallout1/2, but the floor versions I've found are all fucked, and to be honest, I'd rather go in unprepared and be nicely surprised.

The only difference, I expect, is that you might not get a few of the in-jokes.

And the back story. I suspect there will be lots of references to Fallout 1 at the least, and probably Fallout 2 depending on the timeline of where F3 is set.

I'm just going to get the game without reading about so it's all a surprise and stuff.

/edit
I was having trouble working out which to pre-order, PC or 360. Then I looked at the price.

All versions have the collectors, waste-o-money edition option. With all the console options you get the privilege of paying £15 over the PC editions. They must be better or something.

It's the extra fog and the draw distance decrease, they have to code that and it costs a lot...

It'll be the way the textures are artfully sketched in several seconds after the level has loaded - they had to pay Tony Hart to come out of retirement specially.
