Not Oblivion

Post by spoodie »

Until I can play Oblivion without a stuttering framerate I'm turning my back on it and playing Dragon Quest VIII instead, which now has me hooked. Which is surprising because I really couldn't get on with FF7 when I tried it years ago and this one shares many of the characteristics. Fortunately it has less waffle and more humour, also this bloke does the voice of one of the characters:

Although, he says "guv" more than a cockney actually would.

I got that a couple of weeks ago, and it's a bit good. I'd been looking forward to it for ages, finally something new from the Enix bit of SquareEnix.

I like that they used british voice talent, as I'm so used to hearing US accents in-game (or worse, badly-done british accents) but I would have preferred Japanese with subs.

It's stunningly animated, once you get over the black lines and DragonBallZ-like style - so many games use far too few frames to animate even the main character.

I thought this would be right up your street Father Jack. Now I know what the Japanese are all excited about, this game is great and I love the graphically style. Even though it's cartoony I still feel it's more immersive than the game with a stuttering framerate, which is something I really can't get on with.
