anyone having problems

Post by monkeymanblue »

with xfire recently?

I was having a little play last night on Cod:uo with some 5punkers, and my ping was going crazy - up in the 800s/900s

The only thing i had open was CoD & xfire? - Then later on when i tried it again i had the same problem. Once i closed xfire down, the problems went.

Has anyone else been experiencing difficulties with it?

hmm...weird...EVE was having massive difficulties last night, too. Wonder if it was something a bit more widespread than just one program.

My ping was fluctuating more than a flux capacitor

Anyways, I think there was something very weird going on, and it didn't make a difference whether I used xfire or not, I just had mental pings that would be fine one minute, and then shit the next.

Maybe the internet is falling apart :D

my BB connection is through Hulls own telephone exchange, so i dont suffer from the usual BT probs.

I also think i might have a virus/spyware on my system which is slowing things down:(

Have you used Ad-Aware yet?

If so, does it find anything?

no, im going to run it this evening, along with a full virus check..

Although i am quite security conscious, it is such a fucking pain int he arse running adware/virus scanners - they take soooo fucking long on a 120Gb HD:(

Yep, I had awful ping last night - atone point it was permanently stuck at 999.

I thought it was just the fact that my PC seems to have great difficulty playing minesweeper these days.

I've generally noticed that off the bat Xfire will add about 80ms to the ping of most servers. It's not until I refresh the list or a server that I'll get a good ping listing.

I cant seem to run BF with xfire, on loading with xfire turned on BF just crashes, without it, it runs fine.

Tho, im clearly the only person having this problem.
