ImageThat sound you just heard? It was over 10 million World of Warcraft subscribers breathing a simultaneous sigh of relief, now that the MTV Movies Blog is reporting that reviled game-film director Uwe Boll won't be getting his hands on the movie version of the popular fantasy franchise.

Boll recounted a conversation with Paul Sams in which the Blizzard COO reportedly told the director, "We will not sell the movie rights, not to you ... especially not to you." In a rare moment of self-awareness, Boll seemed to understand Blizzard's reluctance, speculating that "because it's such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income." A bad movie? But how could the self-described "only genius in the whole fucking business" ever make a bad movie? It just doesn't make sense!

Blizzard joins Konami in the exclusive "Smart companies that definitively won't let Uwe Boll near their successful franchises" club.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Aww.

Just imagine, if they'd have said yes, some people might have quit in disgust.

And on a side thought, I wonder what would happen to the world if WoW was turned off, permanently. Perhaps the world would become a better place, perhaps a cure for cancer would be found? World peace? Who knows.

There's no such thing as ironic wank. Uwe Boll is a fucking idiot, he's perfect for making a WoW game, the actual story element is most likely a complete unknown to most players, so they'll love it.

He should make a UT3 film, that has similar levels of storyline.

Maybe the other games would be filled with smacktards. I consider games like Warcraft and CS to fill a sacrificial role, atracting all the badness and seperating it from the rest of the web. Not entirely cut and dry, but I like to think it helps.

Well I, for one, would be rather happy. WoW's keeping me as a sex slave.
