Info for Feafalas re: POS Turrets

Post by Wiggy »

I've been asked by Fea to do some calculations on what crystals to fit to the POS guns, so I've done some lovely spreadsheet calculations.

The guns we're going to get are:

4 x Large Beam Laser Battery
2 x Medium Beam Laser Battery
2 x Medium Pulse Laser Battery
2 x Small Pulse Laser Battery

Each gun runs on the next size up of crystal i.e. Large Battery uses XL crystal etc.

I first thought "stick multifrequency on everything and see what happens" so I did. We end up with:

3137.2 damage per second at below 30km from the guns (assuming all guns are hitting for full damage and tracking isn't an issue)

2046 damage per second at between 30km and 105km (with above assumptions).

But i figured - "what if a long range ship such as a sniping raven or megathron comes along?" - so if we fit 2 x Ultraviolet XL to two of the Large Batteries, that gives a reduction in damage (but not much), and an ability to hit at range. Thus:

2930.8 damage per second below 30km

1839.6 damage per second between 30km and 105km

612 damage per second between 105km and 184km.

I would say that pretty much covers all effective distances, no?

Don't worry Hehulk, you can always bring Silver down :)

Oh, and something else i've forgotten to mention: the figures i've quoted are for optimal range only, not taking falloff into account. Bear in mind that Beam Batteries have a falloff of 90km, the Pulse have 30km.
