Freelancer is everything but the MMO part, and there are one or two servers that are apparently still popular.

Wiki suggests supporting hundreds of players = MMO.

256 players is, by my best guess. hundreds.

Well in my opinion Massively Multiplayer should mean a total player base in the thousands even if it's spread out over a couple servers.

I would argue that Freelancer is not player driven though. The players don't/cannot build anything within the game, just trade what the NPC's make. Also, no space stations ftl.
