In which case my next question is is it worth me getting one? I suspect a successor to the 8800 will probably not be far off.
Actually, I know it's not worth me getting one because none of my games slow down yet, but that doesn't mean I don't want one.

High end next gen stuff is meant to be Q2/3 2008.
nvidia aren't hurrying stuff out atm because ATI are just barely catching up.
and no, you have no need to upgrade your graphics just yet, your £200 would be
way better spent on a 20" lcd screen.

That's a bloody good point. My 19" lcd will look pants once I get my new telly. Then I'd have three monitors too!

this, £170 inc. VAT, I've had one for nearly a year with no problems at all.
EDIT: Or you could stretch to one of
these for £234.
