Since we're talking about HL2 mods, I nominate this one for a trial: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Empires

It has little to no cakes but I do think it has the potential for a night's game.

Ah, well, judging by what's said there, it's Beef for Hl2 but with COD4's custom classes.

Sounds like win.
