5punkorp Referendum #1
Right then. We've had discussion about stuff in the past, but this deep space idea I can't quite wipe from my head it prolly one of the most corp changing, game experience altering things that you can do in eve. so instead of forging on as I seem to keep on doing I'm gona pull back, restrain myself and wait for us to decide upon it, as a corp.
What I'm proposing is that we save up an enormous amount of isk to buy a POS, POS fuel and a reuneable 1 week mining pass for fountain (If BOB'll have us). Once that's done, we organise ourselves in an effort of unpresendented organisation and move, as a corp out into fountain.
There's two things that would me from being about happy going until we've met these criteria:
1) Every last BS pilot is in a battleship, and is comfortable with it. The rest of the combat escort would be in battlecruisers, minium
2) Everyone else would be in their races premier industrial ship (Mammoth, Iterion MK5, badger MK2, Coercer). reaon being we need to take the POS, POS Fuel, Barges, Ammo for the combat core. You get the idea I hope. Also, I want to do it in 1 run, so we need an ungodly amount of space.
We wouldn't move until every last one of us was online and ready as getting out into deep space can be dificult, unless you have the numbers to back it up. Now, there's a number of different reasons I think this would be a good idea, but there are, of course, downsides.
Upsides:
We can run 5punk ship form the other side. Mining enough high ends to cover the cost of our low ends.
Make an assload of isk for ourselves. If my calculations are right, and we keep the refinery runing 18 hours a day, we'll be pulling in 100 mill ISk worth of minerals every day.
We'd be in deep space!
We'd be able to make some political allies, and see about getting some regular PVP going. Any of you who've beaten someone 1 v 1 in combat know how amazing this makes you feel.
Being in alliance space, as a guest, means your under the protection of the alliance military. the Xelas fleet is quite formitable (Xelas patrol the region on behalf of BOB, who are down south fighting stain- aliance).
Downsides:
We'd be quite restriced as to what to do during the day, as it really isn't like empire. the rats down there roam around with warp scramblers and battleships, so there's be severe limations on mining until a BS pilot came online.
The sheer cost of getting there is extremly steep. We're talking about 250 million isk, minimium.
Personially, I believe that we're nearly ready for this. We've got more battleship pilots than ever before, As an orginisation towards making isk we've got huge ability, what with 4 barge users in the corp and all, with 2 more aiming at them.
I do honestly believe I can get us a mining pass from Xelas, who own the region though BOB officially claim it, because of the friends I've made inside of it. Some of you might have already noticed that the system we're currently living in has a Xelas alliance corp there as well. That wasn't deliberate on my part, though if we continue to remain on friendly terms with them, I'm sure it won't hurt ourc hances.
Also, I was speaking in BS.I last friday, about perhaps, possibly joining Xelas, and while thier CEO Katya, wasn't willing to nominate us for membership this time, his only reason was because we've never been into deep space before, and he didn't want it on his head that if we joined them, then moved out there and had to leave because we couln't take it. THis would reflect badly on BS.I, as their abilities of judgement would be caled into question, which is fair.
So, if we moved out there, and were there for a month or two happily living, our odds of getting in increase quite alot, as we do have alot to offer Xelas. Our number of barge users, for such a small corp, would nicely add a chunk to the mining ability of xelas. Also the CIC of Xelas, a guy called Cochise, has told me that Xelas don't judge by the number of members. They judge by what you ability is to contribute to the alliance is, and how much your living up to that ability when asked to.
So, with those thoughts for the future written down, please vote. Shall I try really hard to have access ready two weeks after the poll ends?(we could concievable make 250mil in two weeks, but it'd be hard as bugger, not to mention skill readyness)
Shall I leave it for a little while, and aim to get us access a month after the poll ends?
Should we do this out our leasure, taking two months over it?
Should we stay nice and somewhat safe in empire and continue to make the money we're making now off omber?
The poll will have a run time of 7 days.

A few things concern me about the move to deep space.
All the big kids hang out in 0.0, which makes it quite risky. I'm assured that it's not as dangerous as it sounds on account of the alliances defending their space pretty fiercely, but there's always the risk.
Similarly, the rats grow pretty big out there apparently and we're going to have to fight hard to earn this cash.
Neither of these points would put me off, as I think we need roll up our sleeves and get stuck in to be a successful (and hopefully more enjoyable) corp.
My last concern however is the amount of effort it seems to take to run a POS. From what I've gathered from the forums it's pretty manpower intensive keeping the thing in consumables. If we build it we need to know that we can keep it running and not be spending our entire time trying to keep it alive.
I'm sure Hehulk's considered all the factors though so I'm happy to go with the plan as soon as we're ready. Time for me to start training to fly a BS!

While this is most certinially True, we'd be moving in with the permission of the big kids, so appart from the odd raiding party (that our POS should be able to deal wth) and the more dangerous rats, it's fairly safe. All the big kids hang out in 0.0, which makes it quite risky
They most definatly do, but the trick to mining in deep space for long periods of time is to find a cruiser spawn, and have a Battleship tank that. So long as the battleship remainds there, the rats should stay focused upon it. It's extremly important not to blow them up.Similarly, the rats grow pretty big out there apparently
There's no getting around this. POS do require maintance to keep them up, there is a short cut though. Each week of POS fuel will take up 20,454 M3, so if we do a run back into empire with enough haulers when we start getting low, we could quite easily bring backs enough fuel to last week.My last concern however is the amount of effort it seems to take to run a POS
If you insist, but be aware that it's a huge jump that require multiple lv 5 skills....Time for me to start training to fly a BS!
Well, we could, technicially make more tham that per day, but we'd need to take a large POS out with us, to fit a bettet refinery, but I didn't want to conider that as an option as it adds 100mil extra to the already standing 250mil, plus it eats more fuel per hour than a medium tower, so more costs and more hauling of fuel.amblin wrote:I'd say all this seems a damn fine idea to me... But we need to do it properly, know who is doing what and ensure that we have all the tools and kit necessary.
I'm well up for it and I'd do my best to contribute as much as I can to the corp effort. I think we should tool up over a month or so, maybe longer, making sure everyone has their ships and skills ready to rock!![]()
We would need to be making a damn fine profit though!

i'm in for this, but, i reckon it'll take us AT LEAST a month to get everything ready.
dont forget, we need training in the dark arts (i've never had EW cover when flying, and tend to get swarmed. and youve seen my fleetops ability)
i should be capable of flying a BC by the time you read this, and my indie is good to go. by then i should be in the large indie as well.

Re: Well...
As one of the mining crew, all I'd be counting upon you to do is to make sure that you'd have your racial indie skill up to lv 4, for hauling purposes. I know you personially have that hauling alt that's mid-way towards the MK5 iterion, but you still need to get yourself out there. Also, unless your going to be runing combat cover out there, it'll be partially your job to be hauling POS fuel/parts/ammo/etc. More space we can put up, the better so that it get's done in one move.Talann wrote:As a relative noob to Eve, the longer the better for me in terms of being prepared and actively participating. But if the corp moves early, I'll do what I can to help out.

That I will be more than ready to do.Hehulk wrote:As one of the mining crew, all I'd be counting upon you to do is to make sure that you'd have your racial indie skill up to lv 4, for hauling purposes.
Well, it's done. I've got us 0.0 access sorted.
I've spend the best part of the last 4 days thinking about how to get us there (when I'm not fuming over xelas, but that's another story for a different time, perhaps) and having looked down the list of options we have I think I've got the best one sorted out.
ISS Alliance membership.
Much as I have moaned about Xelas to some of you, the ISS really do seem to be a different sort of creature. Where Xelas is bloated down with protocal and forms of goverment, ISS are free form, open minded, and seen more than happy to answer any question I can throw at them. Xelas did sorta dance around a few, so that's one thing.
They've promised us the following, should we choose to join (their more than happy to admit us):
-Acess to pure blind, querious, period basis, providence, catch, tenerifis, immensea and cache.
-Protection under the host alliance military, as well as the ISS navy.
-Positions within the ISS Navy (again, should we want them)
-Mining passes to any of the regions listed above
- Access to the databases that the ISS hold, regarding moon mining (several thousand moons listed)
For membership, we'd have to pay 25Mil joining fee, and a further 25 mil a week. Some of this goes towards the ISS navy (losses and such most likely. Part goes towards funding ISS projects, and the rest pays for our mining pass to the host alliance.
It seems like a good deal, as most other places that are wiling to have us are gona charges a far great sum (BOB quoted me 100mil a week). We'd also have not our our pilots to protect us, but 2 full navies. It really isn't going to get any better than that.
Opinions?
EDIT: Being me, I've done some poking, and found the best (I mean that literially) 0.0 system in Querious. B-7DFU It off the beaten track. it has mountains of crokite, and it's UNCLAIMED! I've ben down there scaning, and there's not a POS in the system. Personially, I favour moving to Querious, as there's no wars within a good, long distance from it, so it'll be quiet.

Heh, I sorta figgured you might. Ironicially enough, your not the only one, but I feel a need to help BS.I get the new recruits trained.... That, and From what our financial director said last night, I get the feeling their going to give me a position power. Not sure I want it, to be honest, but for now I'm just gona sit tight and let whatever will happen, happen.
