Best of the HL series, IMO.

Perhaps you are taking the Half-life name too seriously and putting some Plutonium against your head while you play? Could be a factor...Hehulk wrote:I won't be playing it personally. HL series for some reason always gives me a headache. Even if I'm enjoying it, after 20-30 mins I'll have a banging headache. strangly, the rest of the source engine games don't cause me this problem...

That may be a POV-related problem. I forget what the particular command is to change it, but apparently the relatively narrow POV HL2 uses can give people headaches and motion sickness.Hehulk wrote:I won't be playing it personally. One bit made me chuckle:
The bit just after the testing range for the Magnusson bombs, when Dr Magnusson says he'll forgive you for the debacle at Black Mesa, which leaves you thinking it's all about the experiment until he mentions the microwavable casserole.
Made me fucking lol rather hard as it's one of the really nice touches at the start of HL1
Then there's the whole stalker killing thing, much fun.

However, was it just me, or did the Antlion/tunnels battle, and the strider battle overstay their welcome by a few minutes each? I was bored off my tits by the end of both.

Yes to both, but the 2nd was acceptable just about, the first was really drawn out and ended really abruptly, I was expecting something more epic for running and gunning all that way.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:

However, the guarding Alyx bit with the 4 tunnels, 2 men and 2 turrets was a stroke of genious with the traffic lights and the responces of the men.
Even if at one point it DID bug and not trigger off the 4 Vortigaunts, I had to load up an autosave and redo the section again.

The strider battle was win, it was the last big defence. It did need to be epic, it could have had more striders, and lots of people with magnusson launchers to make it truly mind-blowing.
I did enjoyed both, but not as much as watching alyx get stabbed te fuck, then knowing she'd be alright when the vortigaunt came and killed everything and then made those weird fucking noises. Or as much as all of portal
