DoD: Source release

Post by spoodie »

I think it's due to be unlocked at 22:00 or 23:00 (GMT/BST/whatever?) 26th Sep, perhaps someone could setup a scheduled game if they know the correct time. I'm not going to as I'm not 100% sure I can make it.

And what about a 5punk server, would it be possible to setup a server before the game is unlocked?

Just thought I'd run this up the flag pole and see who salutes it :)

It'll be coming out at 23:00 GMT tiem.

If everyone's preloaded it, technically, you should be able to play straight away. - HOWEVER HL2 was not the same, I had to wait an hour for mine to be completly unlocked... =/

I suppose it all depends on the Steam authenication servers which are likely to be heavily loaded at that time

Arent we in BST at the moment, so that would make it midnight wouldn't it?

Yup, unless Valve forgot DST was in effect.

I think Valve has fixed that particular problem, so we shouldn't have a replay of the HL2 release incident.

And hopefully they'll be less people trying to authenticate this time, which should help. Can you imagine the volume of foaming-at-the-mouth bitching if there are any problems, Valve need to get it right for their own sake and the future of Steam.

^ This. I have pre-ordered on steam. DoD:Source will be a part of the upcoming CS:Source retail package.

They can take debit cards... just as long as it's a Visa debit card. Like mine.
Online shopping is one of the finest reasons to not have Switch, IMO.

the server will be released at latest, at the same time as the game.

this just means berk gets to work his ass off for 30 mins.
