Far Cry quicksave H4XZ0R

Post by spoodie »

I just started playing Far Cry again and found a way to get around the auto-save crap that annoyed me to bits the last time round and I thought I'd share:

Change the properties of the shortcut you use to start the game and add "-Devmode" to the end, like this:

"C:\Program Files\UBISOFT\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -Devmode

Then edit the Devmode.lua file in the main game directory and add these lines:

Input:BindCommandToKey("#Game:Save('Quicksave')","f9",1);
Input:BindCommandToKey("#Game:Load('Quicksave')","f10",1);

This will give you F9 - quicksave, F10 - quickload.

I've had problems with the HUD disappearing after quickloads though so you might want to go to the menu and load instead which seems to stop the problem occuring.

edit: the above problem is caused when I quickload during the short death sequence with the blurred vision, etc. Loading from the menu solves it.

I had problems with 'unexpected' mutants jumping at me from the shadows to gnaw my face off. I found a resolution in the following file:

C:\Program Files\UBISOFT\Crytek\Far Cry\Pants\New

"shit your thong" doesn't sound quite the same though. Plus it would act like a brown bacon slicer :shock:

I only got to the other end of the island, then got bored.

This seems to eb a reoccuring theme with single player gaming recently as I have only got to Ravenholm in HL2, and haven't bothered to pick it up and play again :roll:

Far Cry the game is that fecking island. At least HL2 has a bit of variation in the enviroments. I suspect Ravenholm was just too scary for you.

I think it's got good and bad points, mostly it just looks nice. The mutant things are unimaginative from what I can see so far but the AI is pretty good I think and I'm liking this shotgun type weapon I've just picked up, BOOOM!

I played it for a bit but with my poor FPS decided to postpone it till it looks pretty, plus super jerky in battles makes it harder.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit though from what I did play.
