Now to wait for Socom 3...

Yes, I play them with all the aplomb of an epileptic trifle. Which is why I don't actually bother. Every online-capable game I have on consoles seems to be populated by autistic 10-year-olds who only own that one game.

"I'm 18!" squeaked Player 1.

It not that the Socom series of games are particularly prone to theose types of players, if anything they're better than most. I was commenting on the peculiarities of online console gaming generally. Some don't have voice at all (erm, Rising Sun, I think) and you just kind of float around the map killing random strangers with no feedback from them (or a way to apologise if you do a bad) and are then plunged into a different map with a another random selection. Feels impersonal and sterile, but at least it protects the kids from Bad Men who say Bad Things. Curiously the worst offenders (although obviously only amateur swearers by my standards) won't be "Men" for quite some time.
