That makes sense, I did wonder if it just needed a snippet of code. Let me have a fiddle about with that. And thanks for helping, you web types can't imagine how frustrating this is for me.

Woohoo! That worked a treat, and I completely understand how you did it. Now I just need to sort an image out as a texture. Thanks very much Thompy, 100 5punky bumhugs to you!

Another woo! Jimmington pointed out that the IP for the TS server had colons instead of points. I've changed that and it works!

I'd quite like to have a play around with the front page if that's ok? Feel like I should contribute something to our lovely community. Do we have logon details available?

We do! I've sent you a PM. Please go crazy, don't feel as though you have to stick to the theme I've started, but let me know if there's anything I can break afterwards. I'll stay away for a few days so not to fuck up your chi.

Bah, I spent a good hour and a half on the FP tonight, changing few settings to correct ones only for nothing to visibly change. I may have also broken a plugin, because it worked once and now won't do the thing again. I suck at web.

What did you want to do Doggers? All I did when I had a play with it was make a few behind the scenes changes, a font change and added a bit of padding here and there to make with the pretty. Happy to help in any way I can. Not only does it help our community, it primarily helps me learn more things.

I had a brief poke in the WP admin and updated the things that had updates available - it's usually best to keep on top of those for security reasons. Also security-wise I removed all the Themes we aren't using save the default ones and deactivated the phpbb_topics_portal Plugin as it wasn't working and was revealing directory/user name info publicly. The path may have been wrong - I didn't investigate much - feel free to activate it if you can get it going.
A prerequisite of upgrading the live board is going to be some sort of CAPTCHA, as I'm fairly sure the one we're using will break after upgrading and it's possible we'll either be stuck with approving all registrations as now (best case) or the registration page will be completely broken (worst case). I'd like to have some sort of fallback other than having to completely restore a downgraded board, so if anyone's used any stop-spam registration plugins please let me know of them as I'd like to give them a good testing on the test board.

I updated the index file location on the phpbb topics portal, which it now likes but still returns that error. I also activated the phpbb login to try to get it working so that we can use it as a single sign on with forum accounts, but after finally getting the (relative) forum (common.php) directory correct I started working on the next level of settings and now it seems to be stuck at the beginning again, even though the file path is correct. So I don't know what I broke there. The new topics thing is nice but not essential, but I think we really need the single sign on to work before we go live, otherwise it's a nice but useless front page rather than a source of 5punker articles.
I meant to look for a captcha but forgot. I'll have a look at some big forums to see what they use.

Recaptcha seems popular, and not one of those horrible ones which you can't read.
Picatcha is new on me, but looks fun.

Apparently recaptcha helps with digitizing books and money goes to good causes or some shit like that.
