Yeah I cottoned on after buzzmong's post. I never even noticed the rocket door.

And I was referring to the little rocket man achievement

The gnome is almost right at the beginning. You have to carry it though the mines :)

I found the gnome right at the beginning, trying to go through the entire game with it would be insane.

buzz, do you have any other Source games installed? If not, it has to download all the shared resources it uses. It's like HL2DM right now says it's taking 30MB on it's own, but if I didn't have CS:S, Episode 2, etc. already installed it would be much bigger.

I think he actually pops up more than once, in rather hard to get to places. I'm fairly sure I've seen him in the base at the end, a lurid green and red blob, but I didn't think to note where I was because I hadn't noticed that achievement.

Nah, I DID, but when I first installed Steam I didn't pay attention on this pc, ran out of space in C:

Still, 10 gig though, HL2 only weighs in at 3.5gig, and Ep1 with HL2 is 6.5.

A guy at work has bought the boxed version, as he reckons it'll take longer than 'til Friday to download it over Steam. Preloading most definately wins.

Pffft, stupid uni speeds :)

I finished it about 30 mins ago, average around 800kb/s. Not bad for the evening.

Regarding the Gnome, MorbidMonk set about the task a day or so ago, and you do have to take it through all of the game - including the car levels!

I am also attempting Gnoming.

I can only hope that there isn't one closer to the rocket. I have no save game to check what Pete said.

K'ing hell, Gnoming my way though.

Most bits are fairly simple, as you can drop the gnome, go for a jaunt, then you'll end up back at certain places anyway (eg, the control room with the sniper rifle, and the 4 tunnels with ant lions).

The car bit is a fucking nightmare, especially with the helicopter because once you get into the base, you can't get back out to retrieve the gnome.

Read about this on another forum and went to take a look:

It's in the room with the vortigaunt in the labcoat, behind a big tank.
