We are nothing if not ambitious.

100 Blocks inside diameter.
10 Blocks wide wall

When it comes to it, I'll work out how big the pit going around Orthanc is, that will be the 'big' mining operation.
Thoughts?

I reckon that's not going to be a problem.

Wall plan, top and profile. What does everyone think?
I'm worried the corridor might be too thin around the corners.

Having the wall that high will allow us to make a second floor inside, too.
Stairs can run up along the four straight parts of the wall to the battlements.

err. i didnt read this before saying the walls width was wrong where it was 1 wide where everything else was 2. how come we didnt do 10 wide you said in the first post?

:? I'm struggling to translate that.

Anyhow, is that grey bit a corridor, with the rest solid stone? I figured the wall would be entirely hollow, and that corridor is going to be tricky to navigate.

I'm totally up for suggestions, this is a group project after all, I'm just Painting where needed.

I reckon all you need to do with that tunnel is take the corners off where it bottlenecks it down to 1 wide.

I'd work to the plan for 1/4 of the circle, see if you can make it ergonomic with tweaks.

I assumed the black area was the internal space. I'd suggest building the circular walls and ceiling, then dividing up the space inside into various rooms, without much of a plan. That'll make it interesting.

Agreed. If we can get the bloody wall to line up. It's like getting the Channel Tunnel built at the moment. Erm, I'm not France though...

On reflection that sounds like the easiest solution.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/ ... Walls2.gif">

If we agree on a position for the first floor then that will keep it level across rooms at least. 4 Blocks? 5 Blocks?

That diagram looks good. I usually make my rooms 3 high because 2 feels a bit claustrophobic and I can't be arsed with 4, so having the bottom floor 4 and the top floor 3 should be a good height.

Proposal for the gate house.

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/ ... neGate.gif">

Front view / Side view / Top view

Bit complicated, but they're plans for me more than anything. I don't mind building it all.

Big white hole can be sealed with dirt for the mean time, till we have a forest planted to make proper gates any way.

Yellow bits are triangular protrusions from the top, similar to the archer points on Isengard in the BFME Game.
Light blue crenelations can be continued around as far as you want, or can be left out all together.
Black is the 'floor', which I propose goes up using stone steps above the gate arch.

An idea for the tower. Sorry for big.

Grey = stairs, blue = doors, although I think it would work better with two.

Basically we want to mine a huge disc down to the bedrock layer, then fill it with lavas and dungeons :D

Suggestions for mining:

Take a small chunk (1/8th is good), lots, and lots of wood.

Fill your inventory with stone picks, dig down a layer at a time.

Handy to have a few iron picks too, but they're not faster enough to be worth using all the time
