oh and another thing that no one has pointed out is de-cluttering your overview and screen.

first remove all friendlys from overview (ie gang, alliance, and corp mates)

turn off sound rly its overrated and it covers up the 5punky sing-a-longs)

and there are visual options to turn off as well, others here can explain what i mean cause i am off to a meeting and not sure of what, but if you can figure out how to turn everything off but black space and distant stars please share, space gas is faaabulous

oh most important don't take anything you can't afford to lose (i know it's said all the time but i am not done yet silly) that will take CCP forever to reimburse causer your fps dropped to 1 per 3 minutes and you end up in a pod cause their devs care more about walking around stations and looking up virtual skirts than fix the one issue we all care about. lag free pvp. so till then you all have fun and i'll just stay and hoard more isk and ships =)

ps if you haven't please go to this link and sign the petition for ccp to get new hamsters

Sounds off anyway, as It annoyed me - but good call on the overview! *fiddles with it* :P

As for graphics, I take it I turn off turret effects etc etc etc?
And on a side note, is the lag really as bad as that thread says? As that will make me a Sad Panda

Nope. I haven't seen any lag since we left ISS and even then it was bearable in fleet fights.

When exactly have you been doing proper PVP recently? Just about every fight I've had recently (Read fight not gank) I enjoyed, but omg the lag.

So tackle question..

Do you guys 'set your orbit' on the fly? I mean, I have mine set at 15km for a 24km scramble + T2 lights.. but on large targets I end up orbiting at 18km because of my turn radius... Do you guys run into this and have to adjust your 'set orbit' on your overview on the fly? I was out of range on my light missiles at 18km (I think) as I didnt see any damage spam on my screen. It was a combat situation so I wasn't looking too close.

I know I have to stay 10km + off my opponent too, but damn that's a tricky thing to do with them moving and my orbit etc.. I got too close to a vexor the other night and it killed me. I was outflying his drones but I got close and his gunz? tore me a new one. It was weird. I wish I had my logs going at that time.

I thought speed was my friend, but it was all over so quick i've got a ton of questions before I go blow another one up (crow). FYI i have 4.1km-4.5km orbit with a 4.6km top speed on my ship. I don't know how to eek out more speed either. I have all my speed skills at level4, decent stats and +4's, but no snakes... I guess that would be it? Snakes + a skirmish mod?

Yeah snakes is what makes the really fast people really fast. I usually work out my orbit range before going into a fight and test it to see my actual orbit then lower it a bit until I'm orbiting at the distance I want.

The beauty of crows is their ability to orbit at 20+ km at high speed while scramming and pummeling you with T2 light missiles. You're out of web range and right on the limit of nos/scram range so can run if it gets hot.

You must have inty at lvl 4 at least so your sig radius is so tiny that you can almost run the mwd non-stop and still be very hard to hit. Any less than lvl 4, your sig will be big enough that you might get caught, so watch out for that.

Snakes, gistii mwd and and perhaps a T2 overdrive is how people get 7km/s+ out of them. Add gang links and you hit 9km/s+.

I personally am staying well clear of flying crows until I've got better at flying rifters and raptors. Only then will I risk such a pricey little frig :P

MWD II, Overdrive II, inty4 + speed skills at 4/mwd4 puts me at 4.6km/s

...My cap can run almost 5mins before running out. I have a 125ish sig radius with the MWD... is that good? I thought since my base is 35 w/o a mwd that quadrupling it was bad.. but again I thought speed = good.

I don't have:

Snakes.
MWD less cap plugin
skirmish mod
or +5's (only 4's)

Short of speding 3 weeks training high speed (the mwd skill) or the acceleration control (+speed skill) to five I don't see any other way to get faster, and i'm still almost 5km/s slower the the "good" crow pilots. I don't see how the above can net me 5k+ but I guess the snake stacking really adds up?

Anyhow, is Gist way better then MWD II?

Questions Questions.. Also, is there an easy way to figure how far your missiles will go? Short of adding the m/s and flight time of the missile then trying to add in your skill boos manually?

Standard missile will do for that! Rockets u have to be up close but again. If u havent done alot of tackling I advice u use T1 frig (Rifter) because u learn as u go along how to fly. Crows and inty not cheap. I LOVE Inty but i need all pimped if i fly one of them. So T1 just as good anyhow cheap and easy to replace.

It doesn't matter too much as long as you dont get webbed. It's hard to hit nanophoons and they have a huge sig radius.

Snake implants do give a huge boost but they also cost over a bil afaik :P You could train navigation 5 if you havent got it already, that one doesn't take too long. High speed maneuvering only decreases mwd cap usage so no point in training that if you want speed.
Miro Mishu wrote:Anyhow, is Gist way better then MWD II?
T2 gives a 550% boost, gistii gives a 660% boost so its a fair bit difference.

Load them into your launchers first and show info, the values you'll see are already based on your skills then just do velocity * flight time.

alternatively stick it all in quickfit and it'll tell you the range.

Be careful using T2 missiles though - the furies nerf your cap recharge, precisions nerf your speed.

Speak to Supay - he one of these very quick inty pilots

I've started a 'cookie cutter setups' thread on the Hobo's forum here to try and get the benefit of their knowledge on generic fleet, gang and solo setups for bs's. We should add them to our Wiki for safe keeping!

Right!
I am now the proud owner of a fully tackle fitted rifter (went for the Nos/AC setup) with MWD fitted :D

So......where do I need to head to, to be in the right place to meet up with you chaps?
I'll get on vent at the appropriate time too :)
