Just keep buying DVD's like 99.9% of the population do, wait for the media war to be over, and buy that time the HD stuff that costs a fortune will start to appear in bargain buckets like DVD'd are after 2 months of being released.

BluRay is inevitably selling lots more than HD-DVD even though it's more expensive to manufacture due to the production studios that are backing the format with Sony.

It is a better technology in terms of storage, and allthough it's more expensive to produce a Blu-Ray disc and devices that can read them, everything now seems to be pointing towards Blu_ray coming out on top.

It wouldn't suprise me if a few years down the line the 360 has a external BluRay player :faint:

The PS3 can also fold at home, yes nobody owns one, but, it makes up for it that the PS3 can fold 30 times faster than an adverage PC (the core CPUs are really good at floating point calculations). Still, the elite looks very tempting.

Merrill Lynch picks a winner, and it's Xbox 360. Merrill Lynch has Worldwide, North America, and Japan forecasts through Fiscal Year 2011 (Ending March 31, 2011).

360 - 39% :trophy:
PS3 - 34%

360 - 4%

North America

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The winner in the next-generation console battle is likely to be the Xbox 360, which is the leader in North America, the world’s biggest market," said Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, research analyst for Merrill Lynch.

"We forecast respective market shares at end-FY3/11 of Xbox 360 [at] 39 percent, PS3 [at] 34 percent and Wii [at] 27 percent, thus overturning Sony’s domination of the market with its PS2-based share of 69 percent, and doubling Microsoft and Nintendo’s respective market shares."

The firm further predicts that in Japan, Sony will take the lead with a 57 percent market share, while Nintendo will take the bulk of the rest at 39 percent of the market. Figures for Xbox were not supplied.

In North America, Microsoft will hold the lead with 50 percent of while Sony and Nintendo will follow with 27 and 23 percent, respectively.
