I am Glibberig (cheers from the fan base, swooning from the ladies!), Bard. Defiant on the Overlook server.

What is everyone else called? I only see Anery's details.

My willpower failed and I've bought this. I blame Jesus. To show him I think I'll try a heathen cleric. I like the idea of being in a strong support role.

Am I going to have to understand WoW acronyms, and learn about perfect class-builds to enjoy playing this game?

Short answer: no. You could obsess over builds to you go crazy if you wanted to, but you really dont need to.

Also: we have created a 5punk chat channel in game. Just type "/join 5punkchat"

I was nearly put off because I thought this. I hate games where for every class there is just the one build that everyone sticks to, and if you spend one point in a different skill to what that build is everyone shuns you.

I don't think that will happen in Rift - there are just too many combinations. It's a bit like Titan Quest in that you're spoilt for choice. In a lot of MMOs I spend ages agonising over what I should spend my level up points on - which skill is right? But in this I agonise over which sounds the best.

I believe you can end up with an inefficient character if you don't choose complimenting subclasses (or souls). But with application of standard RPG theory you should be fine and the game suggests complimentary souls.

The public quests are good fun. Closed a few Rifts, battered a few Guardians, and joined a massive group pounding a massive bloke.

I am also able to play music underwater.

I've buckled and gone and bought it, don't know what I will be playing as yet though.

We all need something to waste these days off and help to ignore the wedding.

Breaking strain of a wet Kit-Kat ...

Clowt - Cleric

Taintpole - pyro/storm/something.

This game suffers from giving you everything ever really quickly, it's a bit bewildering at times.

Yes, that's one thing I'm worried about..

I could just about handle the Guild Wars skill bar.
