I haven't spollyared this because it's mostly vague and teasery, if anyone gets annoyed there's not much I can do about it! Sorry.

I found a super fancy gatling laser called vengeance, it kills everything exceedingly quickly and is accurate at very long range.

I also found the best armour in the game after a rather long winded mission, the t-51b power armour. :w00t:

I also found a place called dunwich, pleasantly scary it was.

I can't find a map of every location however, google search spouted a lot of crap when I tried. I don't think I've found everywhere, I know I've not been to all the D.C vaults because you get a list of them, so I think a reload and more searching is in order.

I just realised that I never actually went back to 101 later in the game either, just to smack those jerks in leather jackets in their 'tunnel snakes' with a shishkebab or ripper, or open then up with some well placed laser fire. Or find that they were all dead because I left the door open.

I played this through a rambo guy, so next time through I think a speech/barter/sneak type character for a fresh outlook.

My guy is only wearing Ranger Battle Armor (+1 LCK, +5 AP, +10 Small Guns). :(

I also found Dunwich, the
Spoiler:
Glowing One
tasted the fire and steel of my Shishkabob.

edit: the armor boosts luck not agility. oops.

....

Moar Spoilers about map locations:
Spoiler:
To get the explorer perk straight out of the vault, goto the console and type PLAYER.ADDPERK 00031DE5 . This will open up the whole map, but you still have to go to a location first to be able to quick travel to and from it. There is an absolute SHITLOAD of places that you probably haven't been!

Moar, moar about map spoilers: open the console and type "tmm 1" (without quotes). This fills out your map and marks them as explored so you can fast travel to anywhere, from anywhere.

Eh, I'd rather find these places myself. The fun of having a huge wasteland is the exploration. Last night I was way out West and stumbled across a giant satellite dish. I think it's much more interesting to discover these things for yourself instead of having it all there for you already. Besides, NPCs tell you about a lot of these places anyways, and traveling to them leads you to usually one or two places you haven't been yet.

Completely agree. However, I'm a "completionist"; the thought that I might have missed something will haunt me, now I know about this hax :)

I haven't actually used it to find anywhere that hasn't cropped up in my meanderings or other quests, but it makes me happy that I have the option.

I did use the wiki to find the experimental Fat Boy (blame the whisky at 3am). This thing is comedy gold. It launches 5-6 mini-nukes at a time; you can imagine the results :w00t:

There's a few of them, and relay towers, they make up a quest that I never did finish but I think involves
Spoiler:
calling nukes from an orbital space platform
I guessed this from the holotapes I found in one relay.

It has an oblivion style hangover in that if you try and get the main quest advanced a bit it gets rather difficult, but if you don't you can't use power armour and finding kick ass guns like plasma rifles and gatling lasers is pretty much impossible.

I got that explorer perk never noticed it do anything, but I do find that the map on the pip boy is a bit wank and shouldn't need re-sizing all the time because I miss stuff. I know I haven't been to the republic of dave, my mate told me about it.

Yay, found a Tesla Armor on an Enclave Motherfucker. Now I just need a Gattling Laser.

By the way, Vault 112 is extremely fun.

just got my first house in Megaton, and found dogmeat, which pleases me, since he was my favourite character in the original fallout, i even used to reload my game every time he died. (+he can find ammo and stuff for you)

Agreed. The world map isn't great but the local map is utterly useless.

The problem with the local map is that it doesn't indicate differences in elevation. It may look like there's a straight path to where you need to be, but in reality you might have to go down a couple flights of stairs, through a maze of hallways and then back up another flight of stairs to get where you need to be. Other than that it works fine for me. The World Map just doesn't show you paths that are blocked off or inaccessible. Trying to get to the National Mall took me longer than it took me to get to GNR Plaza.

how do you get to the plaza? i went to the friendship subway station where i continued east, and got raped by a mutant with a rocket.

I did notice that as long as you stay underground it doesn't update where you are properly on the world map. To find out where you actualy are, when traversing subways, head upstairs into the wasteland every now and then and it'll show the change in location. I found gnr plaza pretty much by mistake after wandering around lost.

I think it was near the first one I popped up at. Most of the streets seem to be blocked and you have to get everywhere by going into the tube stations, following the tracks until you get to another station, then coming out to see if you're any closer. There might have been a choice of two exits from the station from memory.

If I'm not misunderstanding and you're trying to get to Galaxy News Radio for the first time, when you come out of the station there are two of those life-preserver pods, one containing a teddy bear (with a mine by it), the other a skeleton. There's also
Spoiler:
a super mutant there, I hid in the pod and heard shooting, when I came out there were two blokes and a woman there - she talked to me, then they basically led me to the GNR entrance.

Yeah I do that and you get a lot of Metro stations marked on the map.

Follow the local map to the marker in the unseen and you'll eventually get there. I didn't encounter any mutants until I surfaced so you're probably doing it wrong.

I had just enough speech to convince him. But I wish I'd actually done that instead, sounds like an ok mission.

Remember to go back to vault 101 ladies! I just did and there's stuff to do.

Went to vault 112 as well, that was funny. Gary? Is that you Gary?

If you can find the Metro Map download from one of the Metro security terminals, you'll find that it correlates very well to the World map. You just have to REALLY look for the names.

Incidentally, I'm at level 12, and the Mutants are going down (fnar) fairly easily now - mostly one shottable from sneak mode. I'm guessing there's bigger challenges to come, but I'm a dawdler when it comes to big games.

DISH MISSION:
Spoiler:
Getting teared to pieces by a megaton of Super Mutants is not OK in my book
