I hate release dates.

Don't think so, ubisoft making/publishing are they not?

It has kinda slipped under the radar a tad, but the bits I've watched look rather fucking good.

:above: FC2 looked a bit good on the tech demos.

Although....it did look a bit sparse, I do wonder just how much of the game will be boring traveling between points.

Those points are miles apart in a hueg playing area. Gaps are filled with random warbands, enemy camps, diamond mines and weapons caches apparently.

I can see it being a bit of a walk if you trash the car really early, but I think you can just get on your phone and ring a mate who'll pick you up and drop you off for a small fee.

hmm, wiki says 1st oct for farcry 2.

<strike>and it's still on the crysis engine, which means it'll run like a 2 legged dog with rickets.</strike>

apparently it's not, dunia engine apparently *looks for info*

Apparently it's a UT3 derivative, with muchos tweaking. So hopefully it'll scale well and look super shineh.

Editz - very similar to assassins creed engine apparently, but moar tweaked, I read that on a site, think it was gamasutra. Think they might use similar for assassins creed two.

I read that, then I read about 10 other things that said it isn't

It's either massively modified Cryengine 1 (farcry) or something new.

Yeah, the more I read the more I doubt the UT3 thing. It sounds like they've spent 2/3 years writing it, the guy likes the word 'procedural' doesn't he.

Ubisoft make loads of money of their ds games and the big things like creed, doesn't look like they're rushing this because they're not desperate for the extra dollar.

Could well be fucking amazing. I'll not get hyped though, I'm saving all that for fallout 3.

It'll be interesting to keep an eye on.

shame this year seems to be evil, whole fucking lot of potentially very good games spread over near enough 4 months.

Lets enforce our own staggered release dates then - no 5punker is allowed to buy more than one of the new releases a month, and we can vote on which one in which month.

I hope they are a bit more resilient than the ones in Crysis that exploded quicker than an unmanned jeep parked next to a pile of red barrels in the A-Team.
