As nice as Pant's suggestion is, I've found you can just install and patch to the latest version with the collection CD's (I've got the older collection of just 1&2) for it to work with XP.

I think I did use the latest community patch at the time as well, as they fix lots of little bugs in the game.

Hmm, I didn't have to do any of that. Just installed and played them, over and over again.
