Wait a seconds.. Why do apple mice need two buttons if the OS works with just the one button?? eh.. Oh I s'pose this is for PC's only? Apple has decided they won't be able to get people to buy their own computers so they make stuff for the PC... And as for taking it apart, I bet its impossible to do unless you break it open just like the ipod. They like seal them impossibly. Damn them. Damn them to hell, But I would like a powerbook. :)

MacOS has (and has since 10.0.0) built-in functionality to use 5 buttons, a scrollwheel and a some horizontal scrollers.

Usually, the thumb buttons are for activating exposé or the dashboard.

i never liked apples designs for everything now., taking the same design and making it into a mouse or an mp3 player is just lazy, and they look like shit too

To [finally] make a mouse that right-clicks, and then cack it up so that you can't click both at once...

I need to click both at once:
1. In Unix terminals it performs the paste function, so you don't type those complicated long command lines in wrong
2. In every single one of the FPS games I play; LMB=SHoot, RMB=Forward - it would make me a bit of a target if I stood still everytime I had to shoot (though my accuracy might improve)

It's not that I'm against things that look different or people attempting to make dull things look "nice", I just wish they would remember why the existing designs are practical and work well.

For general use I'm sure it would be fine, some people are only just beginning to use the right mouse button in Windows, never mind the scroll wheel - I guess those are the sort of people that Mac hardware and maybe Macs in general are aimed at.

I never got on with WASD, just find it clumsy (or at least, I'm clumsy at it) I also only like to press one keyboard key at a time.

Standard setup is something like this:
Forward RMB
Shoot LMB
Step Left Z
Step Right X
Backwards MMB (some games don't recognise scroll-wheel-press as middle mouse button, so I leave it as S)

Alt Fire A

Depending on the game Q and W can be lean left/right, dropping ammo, medic calling or status checking.
E is Use
D is any special-type move (dive, roll)
C is Crouch

So I only need two of my chubby digits, and slide them up and down between QW, AS and ZX which are easily locatable without looking, with E,D and C close by. Any other keys I pretty much have to look first - never did get the hang of touch-typing. :?

I find circle-strafing and dodging pretty each with the setup, but it's just what I'm used to. I've been using it since Quake 1 and it would be pretty hard to change now.

My inital Quake 1 method, having come from Wolf3D/Doom was to use the arrow keys and only grab the mouse when I wanted to shoot (ie: remain stationary when shooting) using which I didn't exactly rack up the kills, I used to bump into doorframes a lot if I tried to run with the mouse back then.

Having come from using the cursor keys was perhaps why I never took to WASD - apart from the fact they were on the other hand (I'm a bit of a beadlehander with the left) but the W wasn't in quite the right place and I'd keep fingering the crack between W and E.

another epic insight to the crazy world of FatherJack

I used to use a non WASD config but I thought I'd better change as everyone was doing it. Plus it means I don't have to go through the boring process of changing key bindings too much.

although I get the feeling (in my swollen finger joints mainly) that WASD is not the most ergonomically sound config there is
