Have you noticed how militarised the US police are now? Scary stuff.

I'm guessing that's just the ones which show up after things like this, which are the only ones we ever see on TV. There's a picture of a policeman in Washington with armour and an assault rifle though, which reminds me of what the military escalate to during heightened alert states over here.

They seem to have changed the title of the article.

The actual article never did have that title, just the link on the front page. However I can't find that now. Maybe someone pointed out how fucking ridiculous it was, like the DM would take any notice of that.

We might be overly sensitive to mention of games in a bad light, that article as it stands now just has mention of what he did with his time to present a profile, that he was drawn to violent games, not that all games are (or make you) violent. Of course it deliberately mentions drinking, "excessive" violent gaming, mental illness, trips to massage parlours, an interest in guns and minor disciplinary problems while in the military - all which are triggers which your "average right-minded Daily Mail reader" might prejuducially use to reinforce their own worldview.

Well that was kind of my point. Even their own article only briefly touched on it, yet the DM front page had that headline, focussing on the videogames and even putting the time spent in capital letters.

Wait, was it not cool to fuck hookers then run them over before GTA V? Shit, I am deeply uncool.

Yet another illinformed bit of drivel. I wonder when they will get bored of writing about it? I expect only when the Page views drop off, but all the gaming sites linking to this sort of thing and stirring up rabid gamers will just perpetuate it.

Looks like this author has got quite a backlash and probably won't write about it again! But unfortunately there are plenty more where she came from in that ocean of idiot "journalists".

It will stop when people are more likely to regularly play games than not. Most kids and teenagers are familiar with them now, in ten or twenty years they'll be the ones writing articles, and they won't hold such ill-educated opinions. Just like all the other boogeymen before like video nasties and rock music.

Apparently the Daily Fail has noticed that the kid that stabbed his teacher played Dark Souls. I'm not going to link to the article, because fuck giving them views.

He didn't have violent tendencies because he played computer games, he had violent tendencies because something is wrong with him.
He didn't play computer games because he is a nutter, he played computer games because he was 15.

Fucking idiots.

I wonder why I didn't see this coming. It's been a while.

Apparently he also liked "Heavy Metal". Imagine the furore if the DM find out about brutal legend!
