That could be endless fun. Burrowing for ore and coal, only emerging at night to collect wood and harvest souls.

I can't wait for it.

Someone work on a mole-people skin...

Oh this, that would be awesome. Turning up on random servers, all pink eyes and white skin, silently digging away and hiding. The paranoia (before they killed us all) would be brilliant.

It should be easy enough to make a skin for everyone to wear. Bearing in mind we'd have to go without armour if we wanted to show it off.

There's a good lot of skins here: http://tkte.ch/skins2/

A gaggle of naked 5punkers? Brilliant, we could pre-enact Jock's wedding!

Mine's Stan from Monkey Island;

Mine works a whole lot better if he's standing still.

If only you could stick another little appendage on there, flailing about.

Fingers crossed Notch allows jiggle-bones in a future update.

Damn you Minecraft. I've decided that he dropped the spawn of ores for a few stages, and that I built my lava-moated gothic farm fortress during one of these stages. As much as I love my fortress, I just can't bring myself to dig around finding knob all any longer. No caves, only tiny patches of ore, no bloody dungeon. But that means I'll have to start again. :(

Oh, and I lost my diamond sword when I went spelunking to find interesting caves from the surface, and a zombie pushed me down a big waterfall.

This game scares me. If I get bored and one day log in I fear I may lose my life. Again.

I'm put off committing time to building due to all the updates and changes. Just experimenting with small things. Although I still have to commit time to collecting the resources I need to build small things.

Is anyone interested in some instructions for getting started, expanding on what Dog Pants wrote a few pages back? This seems to be the stumbling block for some people (including myself) but it's really not very complicated. I could put it in the wiki.

A getting started with crafting guide would probably be helpful, it's not super intuitive.

I might Fraps a tutorial video some time.

That's assuming I know WTF I'm doing of course.

I'll put something together, with some of the helpful linkies ive found in. Its a bit weird at first, but pretty simple once you have got used to the quirks. The most useful thing for crafting is a guide to what you can make, such as this

I've written a primer guide here. It's the very basics of getting through the first day and night, as I see it. If you feel it can be improved or there's any mistakes then poke it. Or if anyone wants to make more pages they can be linked to the main Minecraft page what I made (glory at it's rich content). Or stick it on the main page if appropriate.

A video tutorial would be good if you've got the inclination. It's certainly my preferred way of learning. I thought about making one then I realised it'd be too much like hard work to make and probably to watch if I did it.

Looks like a good starter to me. Needs a newb to go over it though, it's easy to see things as simple when you already know how to do them.

I'm a newb! And none of that stuff happens. Is this a paid-for version? The free in-browser thingy on the web page just has you wandering around an empty map.

I've modified the titles for clarity. You don't need much in the way of instruction for the classic mode.
