Ha, what a bastard! With regards to bioshock, the validation just seem to consist of it phoning home to say hello rather than having to download anything, so you could just hook up to someone's connection for a minute and then it'll work. Should provide you with some more offline entertainment for a while, assuming you buy the disk rather than downloading the 8GBish, which on dial-up may take from now until forever.

This, or at the very least ask nicely and plug your machine in for 2 minutes! Depending on the personality of your neighbour, they may be willing to share the connection if you share the cost, or they may throw a shoe at you instead. Worth asking anyway.

I have the disk sat on my table right now. And it's useless to me at the moment
It's a consideration. I don't really know them that well though. Still, after this weekend I won't be able to play it for two weeks anyway, so no big rush.

Well don't get to know them too well - we want you back here gaming, not going out and "socialising".
You'll all be pleased to know I've not spoken to my neighbours since then ^
Also, I thought I'd seen the last of that fucking avatar Grimmie. I'll not sleep for weeks now.
Also also, I'm still in a battle of wills with BT. Since my last log they've told me (again) that I can't get the intarwebs, and then rung me back (again) to tell me I can. The saga continues....
I do have a 56k modem now though, so I'll be insisting I get a dialup account with no commitment until they sort me out.
