Portable Telephone Upgrade Teim
Within a month my current contract is up on my mobile, so I was thinking of the best way to go about getting a better deal. I'm currently thinking of one of these deals which give me free stuff. Who else has tried dial-a-phone, and are they in the same league of cuntiness as Phones 4 U?
I'd like to stick to SonyEricsson mobiles because I like them and already have a 1GB card for my current W300i, and I'm not really bothered about getting the latest one so the W810i would do me fine. My main concern is being unconsentingly sodomised by dial-a-phone. I'll then be left with the choice of Wii or 360, and I must say that the Wii is winning at the mo!

Yeah, I suppose it's kind of like monthly payments on, say, a Wii but just tied into your mobile contract. The alternative is to phone up O2 and demand a lower rate under the threat of me leaving. I pay £20 a month rather than the £35 the tariff is rated at anyway, and most of my mates now have this deal too.

The 360's only the Core system - one wired controller and no hard disk.Lateralus wrote:I'll then be left with the choice of Wii or 360, and I must say that the Wii is winning at the mo!

I staying with Orange me. I get unlimited land line calls! 550 to mobiles and i think 200 text if i remember right for £45 a month. Because of unlimited land lines means i get a calling card for £10 of 5000 mins to call my OH in the USA
works out great for me
only thing i dont like about contracts now is 18months. Tho i still get 12month with same deal. Only place i know in Devon to get that

For £45 a month with only 550 mobile minutes and 200 texts (regardless of free landline calls), you should get an Orange customer service rep to come round to your house every month and give you a handjob. I pay about £5.60 a month for 1100 minutes, texts are cheap (but I don't send many of them), I get some data too, and all the usual goodies. Calling the US is a bit more expensive for me, at 2.3p per minute (same as to call the UK), but I don't need to faff around with a calling card - although if I were making 5000 minutes of calls to the US every month, I think I might. Calling China is kinda pricy, though, at 12.5p per minutenorthwesten wrote:I staying with Orange me. Of course, handset subsidies here usually only happen with two year contracts.

Yup and it does suck without a harddrive and Wi-Fi (although I'm fully aware no Xbox comes with Wi-Fi).FatherJack wrote: The 360's only the Core system - one wired controller and no hard disk.

I have to agree with my esteemed colleague and the right honourable gentlemen above. The mobile sector is extremely competitive and if you tell the company you are with you are disconnecting and also get a PAC code (that last bit is important, they get out even better deals then) , they will bend over backwards to keep you.eion wrote:

Lastly, http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.co ... llchecker/ and http://www.simply-fone.com/ are quite useful too in various circumstances.
Well I grew up near Newbury which is where Vodafone are based, and consequently they provide about half the employment in the area, and the majority of people are on vodafone. Never found a reason to go back to them since switching to O2 though, and I don't think O2 are too expensive either. I agree that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired though.
