I've heard that underclocking might actually void your warranty actually. Just FYI.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Other thing to try is downloading ATITool and using it to underclock your graphics card (both GPU and graphics memory) by ~10%
If it's a card issue, that'll usually stop the errors (or make them take longer to appear) If it does, your card is ill.

Memtest, although I strongly suspect that's not where the problem lies.thewombleofdeath wrote:no not yet. what should i do?
The last couple of days have turned up a problem on my PC too - happens in both Beef and CS:S, usually after about 5 mins of play, although not always. The PC freezes, and creates a horrible high-pitched tone of the ear-bleeding variety. An audio conference with experts has suggested that it's drivers, so I shall do some driver fettling tonight, probably of both the graphics and soundcard variety.
I don't understand why something like this would suddenly break after working fine for ages, when I've not changed anything. Everest claims that it isn't heat because nothing gets excessively hot.

It's Windows.Lateralus wrote:The last couple of days have turned up a problem on my PC too - happens in both Beef and CS:S, usually after about 5 mins of play, although not always. I had that problem recently.
I solved it by building up a new PC (which is slightly rage inducing now, I curse Windows Update).
