Headset
I know it's been asked a few times before, but I'm after guidance on getting a headset. Figure that with the amount of time I spend wearing a headset, it's worth getting one that doesn't act like a vice around my ears.
Anyhoo, I'm thinking of maybe the Logitech Precision Gaming Headset as I'd like to keep it under £20 if possible, but gather that the Beyerdynamic DT234 PRO is the 5punk favourite. Is it worth the extra tenner over the Logitech ones?

Re: Headset
From my minimal use (i'm an audiowhore) of the beyers, absolutely, long cable, decent quality etc.Lateralus wrote:Is it worth the extra tenner over the Logitech ones?
My suggestion would be to try them* on if you can. if they feel like they fit when you first put them on, they probably do.
*and any other cans you're looking at

The Fatal1ty one is meant to be reasonable, good bass and crisp mid section, if not with slightly iffy aesthetics.
And the fit is great for some, not so much for others.

I just have a basic Creative HS-300pair. The connecting bar goes behind your head, rather than over it, which for some reason I find more comfortable. Basic spongy earpiece and mic covers rather than plastic ear-covering ones that make me sweaty. Switch and vol control on a clippable bit that fits exactly on the hem of my shorts. Perfect for me, at least.
The switch and vol control are starting to go a bit, but I'd probably buy the same model again to replace them - I only use it for TS, I have proper headphones or use speakers for musicy stuff.

For sheer laziness of use, I'm using these logitech usb's The cord has a little box/lump thing, with drivers an shit, bout the same size as an inline 'mote. You plug it in, and it appears like magic in 'Sound and Audio Devices' as an option for voice playback etc, couldn't really get any simpler. Sound is better than my desktop speakers for gauging direction of stuff, they sit kind of on as opposed to over ears, but don't pinch the noggin.

I am currently using a pair of the logitechs, but i dont think i'd buy them again if i had the choice.deject wrote:FWIW, I've had 3 of those Logitech Precision Headsets break on me. They're nice, but crap.
they hurt my ears (not volume, i just have big ears narf,) and it takes a lot of fiddling to get my mouth in the right place to use the mic

I also am using some Plantronics, these to be exact. They're much sturdier than the Logitechs, and for the price they sound damn good.Knight wrote:I use Plantronics - great and I mean GREAT Sound, for games/music/movies etc, but have a tendency to snap unless you get the DSP versions. DSP ones are much better and actually dont break!

Ive had a logitech usb headset for over a year now and apart from standing on it and nearly breaking it (the speaker clicked back onto the headband thankfully) ive had no troubles, its easy to install, use and counts as a separate audio device which makes it great for separating sounds, for example i can set windows media player to play through the headphones while i play a single player game through my child sized speakers
