I might get the cheap one at release and add a HD later if that's possible. I wouldn't actually want a wireless controller, unless it was bluetooth/wifi style - if it was infra-red it would be a nightmare (box not line-of-site from chair) - even so I don't know if I could be arsed to put batteries in it, having a cable isn't exactly a problem for me.

Only problem with the cheap package is you have nothing to save games on, you'll need a memory card, £22.99 the robbin' bastards.

Edit: If they had included a memory card reader to use MMC, SD Flash etc. for saves I reckon they'd be onto a winner, then you could also view your photos through the box as well. I are a genius.

It is compared to USB devices, but about the lowest you'd pay for a 64MB "supa" card for one of the existing consoles.
Sony cards have a "Magic Gate" logo on them - is this some sort of format used anywhere else?
It would be great if you could just use normal memory cards: in GT4 on the PS2 you could, but only to save your pics, not your game - which shows the technology/ability is there, just deliberate disabled. Otherwise >gasp< you might actually purchase an item from >gasp< another manfacturer!
I saw some GC cards that also had USB connections, but they seem to have disappeared - a bit like the SIM card reader thing I bought my brother-in-law last year - they're all perfectly fine and legal until someone sees them and says "Hey! That's costing us 0.01p a year - ban it immediately!" and it's suddenly "illegal".
Obviously I made that last bit up.
It would be nice to have a standard, but it is unlikely to happen, it seems to me because of greed.
