Well, it's reasonably likely that I'll buy a PSP soon and just put with with a bit of eye-rolling and tutting from the missus. The shop in town has a basic second-hand one for £85 and one with a few toys for £110ish, but how do you check the firmware? I know there is a jpeg thingy, but what if the previous owner upgraded it? I gather that there is a way to downgrade 2.82 now, so are there any firmwares which would leave me totally shafted in terms of homebrew, or is there a way around them all now?

Actually, this guide seems to be a pretty good source of info. I'll go to the shop later and find out what firmwares are running, and if it's a good one I might snap it up.

Remember, if it's 2.80 or under, snap the guys hands off, if it's up to 3.03, you can do it with the GTA disc that 5punkers have been sending each other.

Do you know any good homebrew portals?
My PSP is a little redundant at the moment, but I'm sure there's some great stuff I'm missing out on other than swept games.

Haven't really done the homebrew thing in ages to be honest, I just muck about with emulators and swept games.

I have that massive pack of emulators I mentioned if you still want it, but your best bet is to look at the "Homebrew Database" (Looks a bit spacky at the moment, but the content still appears at the bottom of the page)

My PSP is on Version 3.52... is there anything I can do?
I was aiming to get:
A custom theme.
PSone driver to psp.
and
get SOCOM FTB online, (need my net access code pin)

BTW, does the psp browser have a name? (I think it's the same as some mobile phones)

Probably not for a while. Lumines was the last big downgradable and they fixed that in 3.51 I think.

The name escapes me at the moment, but I think it says somewhere in either the Browser Help or in System Information.
