8800 Tips and Tweaks

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Right, given I've now got performance up to scratch for my 8800GTX, I figure it's worth all us cunts having a thread dedicated to the oddities related to the 8800s (and probably 8x00s too)

Poor performance in ArmA, CoD, Doom3, Quake4, Quakewars (and probably all other OGL games)

This one is caused by a fuckup in the drivers, may only be a problem for multimonitor whores, but there you go.

Code: Select all

Open the NVidia Control Panel, under 3D Options, set "Multi Display Performance Mode" to "Single Display Performance Mode"
Framerates before/after fix

ArmA___~5 to ~40 (max settings)
CoD____~20 to 350+ (max settings, forced AA/AF)
ET:QW__~15 to 60 (max settings, framerate locked at 60)

Dual to Single monitor performance tweak works for single monitors as well.

Nice one. It's also the nVidia drivers that are causing excess fog in ArmA, limiting the view distance to less than 3km :x

Hmmn, you sure?

A lot of stuff I've seen says it's fixed in the 1.08 patch. Can't confirm though.

Edit: had a poke about, still there apparently.
