Isnt releasing Defcon on a disk kinda missing the point of dodging publishers by using digital distribution?
Should'a stuck to steam.

Well, I suppose they think that they'll make even more money by releasing it in shops, even if 80% of the profits go to everyone but the developers.

They can't -lose- anything by releasing it again, they can only gain. To a much wider market.

Edit: http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/3343024 ... oduct.html

£15 from play?! £20 from most shops?! GTFO!

Oooooh DIRT is out. The demo was a touch lightweight and meh but the full version should be nice.

I downloaded the 360 demo but haven't given it a whirl yet. This series of games is one of the rare few driving games that translates well to the PC.

Well, if you have a horse-feedback steering wheel, that is.

I use a 360 pad, got fettled drivers so it rumbles properly. Best 20 quid forked out ever :)

A good way of replicating the 360 experience, but with better graphics.

The predecessors at least were among the few games that correctly supported FF wheels, in that you could feel the road and actually recover from slides, whereas most games seem to treat the wheel as a glorified rumbler, much like the PS3 controller will probably end up as.

Don't get me wrong, I love console racers more than most games, it's just in the ten+ years I've owned a FF wheel, I've only found three or four games that actually feel like you're driving.

Have you tried Test Drive Unlimited? I had a friend hook his wheel and pedals up to my PC and he said it was frighteningly good. I have to admit that as a non driver I found it very hard to use and went back to the controller asap but he thought it was excellent.

I haven't, my Dad has my wheel at the moment, but that sounds like a game he'd enjoy, too.

o rly? what drivers are you using? I have one too, it works fine with most newer games with the standard drivers but there's still a few that dont rumble properly.

I tried the colin mcrae: dirt demo and the rumble on the 360 controller is extremely realistic, only problem is you'll probably need an 8800gs or better to play it, my 7900gs only got 10-20fps at lowest settings :(

It's not really a problem, I had a poke on the demo, all shiny and no game. (also, *really* quick/cheap console port)

Didn't seem much game in the 360 version either. The car wouldn't slide, just kept stopping half-way into the corner - no fun at all.

Recently I found TDU quite entertaining for a while, but lost interest pretty fast (especially when I discovered that just pulling off the road by 1' makes you invisible to the cops)

He's hoping trackmania unlimited will last a little longer.

I couldn't find any weapons to collect or fire. Maybe they're not in the demo.

Also the game stops you running over spectators. :(
