well, that went well

grabbed a (corp)vex, set course for a random 0.0 syst
Jumped into G-5 after asking for intel and getting none
Vaga on the other side of the gate
my superior nav skillz see me warping out before he can get a lock
right into the rest of the camp
and it ended
then I posted the podloss but forgot the ship :P

Well, that was dissapointing ... rather an anticlimax really, next time eh?

yeah

advice on how best to scout local form the map while still cloaked at the jump-in gate (ie; quickly)? or warp somewhere first then work it out?

I know my mistake was not being suspiscious of a lone vaga, and concentrating on his targetting icon rather than scanning local. Meh, I'll try again this evening

Kills in the last hour is a good one, and pilots in space. Doesn't work 100% of the time, but it's a good indicator.

I did check the map stats before I went, didn't show anything super-suspicious. Well, 3 ship destructs in 1 hour for 5-gen, but that's below average narf :P

Then till the end you didn't really do anything wrong. Sometimes you do just end up in the wrong place at the wrong time (My faction pimped hurricane could attest to that)

Good learning experience though. We'll build another ship and do it again.

Until I got confident in my ability to run gate camps, I always used to scout G-5 with a noob ship before going back to get my other one. Slow and boring, but worthwhile.

Another good way to build confidence is to run around 0.0 in a cheap fast frig, playing tag with hostile inty's and make bookmarks and warp ins all over the place. You get to know the space, the enemy and have a shed loads of safespots for later.

Was thinking about this. nothing to lose and tactical BMs (like gate scans / offplane warpins etc) would be invaluable in the systems directly surrounding our home.

Dres has already made 3 vexxes and I've only blowed up one so far...

I assumed you already now how I feel about PvP, that is, if I have a ship I'll come along. Obviously I dislike POS PvP, or PvS (Player vs Sanity)

I will happily blow up any of my ships in PvP except for my ratting Raven and ratting Drake, because they are rigged. Anything else can asplode and that's fine by me.

I wont PvP in my implant clone, but I only jump in that when I know I wont have the time to PvP for 24 hours anyway. I think even now I'm in an empty clone.

I would shy away from taking a BS in a gang purely because I feel like a chocolate teapot. I'd still do it, but I enjoy the elite frigate class much more.

Obviously ISK for me is finite, which seems to contrast with the Hobos and Jimmy!

That pretty much sums me up.

And very neatly sums up most of us too I think, Fear :)

BS's have their role to play in certain situations. We're working hard in both alliance and corp to mitigate the ashtray-on-a-motorbike issue. Corp insured bs's should lessen the pain hopefully to the point where we can blow them up as much as we blow up frigs, and remote repping should make the buggers last a bit longer. 'Should' being the operative word here.

AYE!! :above:

As the bossman said, isk is a factor for all of us. Luckily, the corp can help alot there. We have a good(ish) stock of blueprints that we might as well use! I'm building as much as my playtime will allow, and Bomber is already enjoying some corp insured ships, which barely cost the corp a dime, even paying the insurance, when compared to market value. So if you can provide a decent grade bpc, we can probably get you a ship for well below retail. Then the corp will insure it, and replace it when you pop. If the wallet doesn't stay balanced, we might require you to pay the corp for the re-insurance on BC's and BS's, but that's minimal compared to the cost of the ship. I'm also trying to be forward-looking so that we'll have replacement ships already stock fitted and insured during ops, so we'll be able to return to battle quickly. That will take awhile, and some isk, but should be well worth it!

So if you need ships to fly, please let me know. A couple more days and I'll start on Advanced Mass production, that will help keep more slots busy building stuff for you!

:likesitall:

BTW, billy will be retreiver capable this evening and i know there's one in the 5punkorp hangar in Goram. does anyone mind if I nick it for corp and personal mining ops in Goram area?

If so, say and i'll buy one, or if the corp wants some isk for it ... or whatever really :ignore:

Use it freely! Just return it when you get to Covetor. I'll build you one of those when you get close as well, as long as you return it when you get to Hulk! (They really really are the WIN in mining!)

Also, mine next door in Adahum, (next door to Goram that is), much quieter system, better ore yield too). Being not as busy, and a dead-end, ore thievery likelihood is reduced.

Let me know if you need a hauler as well. If you like, you can just stockpile ore in Adahum, and I'll refine it when I get on, much easier than making the jump, approaching station and all that over and over again.

5punkorp will probably always have buy orders up for mins as well, so you can profit and help the corp at the same time!

:above: this

Also if you poke me when Jhura is next on I have a load of mining BM's for both Goram and Adahum which will drop you right on the ore rather than having to slow boat from the warp-in spot (barges are sooooo slow). Save a lot of time if you're mining for a while.
