Recruiting

Post by friznit »

Background

5punkorp is strong on industry and although we have a few people with the skills to PvP well, we lack the motivation, confidence and overall numbers to be able to conduct regular PvP ops as a corp. We also seldom manage to get more than 3 or 4 out on an Alliance op. This isn't just restricted to 5punkorp, even Hobos, the primary PvP corp in the alliance, are struggling to get the numbers at the moment and it's something we're looking at.

The PvP ship replacement programme and the changes to what we're doing as an alliance should make it more fun and go some way to encouraging our existing membership to come and play. In addition we need to pull in some more people to up our player base. The alliance is looking to recruit another PvP corp that we know well.

5punkorp Recruiting

5punkorp is not a pure PvP corp. We like to do a bit of everything from mission running and mining to small gangs and big fleet ops. Variety is the space of life and keeps the game interesting. We therefore need to select potential recruits who fit this bill.

We want committed and active players who will be part of the team. When there's a corp activity, we expect them to come along and not sit the other side of empire never talking to us in corp chat.

We also have a rather eclectic sence of humour and ofc have our roots very firmly in 5punk and the madness herein.

How to Do It

I've never tried recruiting established players before. I'll stick a post on Eve-O but from past experience that rarely pulls in many people. We'll need a 5punky logo for it though.

If you know anyone who fits the bill, then get them involved. I'll happily accept any recommendations from existing 5punkers.

I think a cap limit of 50 - 60 members if good.

So, anyone got any ideas?

And do we have any artists (not just Eve players!) in 5punk who could make a suitably 5punky yet semi-serious-ish logo for us to use as a letterhead on Eve-O?

Who is 5punkorp? [5punk]

5punkorp is an eclectic mix of players with our roots in the b3ta community. We have flourished in the 2 years since we started playing Eve and many new friends have joined our ranks.

We are part of Betrayal Under Mayhem Alliance [BUM] and recently we have been assisting Ushra'Khan in their fight for freedom against CVA in Providence, but carrying out many corp and alliance ops elswhere too. We have no fixed assets (POS or outposts) and go wherever we think the most fun is to be had.

We have a strong industrial backbone based in deep 0.0 that is dedicated to keeping our PvPers supplied with ships and the means to stay in the fight.

Requirements

- PvP Experience or willing to learn
- Ventrillo. Must have a working mic and be able to speak English
- Must be able to read and communicate via the corp forum
- Mature attitude, with a good sense of humour
- 5 million skillpoints or more preferred
- Active member of the team and take part in corp ops

Also...

Corp members are free to do what they want but when there are corp and alliance ops we do expect you to turn up, although you don't have to come on every single one. We encourage corp members to hang out near our HQ and work together as much as possible. We listen to ideas and concerns from all our members, new and old. We like to keep the number fairly low so we can maintain the personal touch.

Please convo or evemail eRabbit (UK), Dres Kaneerdan (US) or myself (UK) ingame for a chat.

Very nice. I suggest the "Around 5 million skillpoints (will consider less on interview)" should be changed to at least 5 million skill points, that way you wont put off more skilled characters who think you're only accepting lower SP characters.

Hmm....

Dolly had a point last night, albeit with an alcohol blood content that is yet unknown....

What if we recruit noobs? With the starting skill boost, we could get any noob to make an alt that could tackle out of the box. If we recruited hard once a month, (every member getting a new recruit), by the next month those members would be in support cruiser roles, and we'd have a new crop of tacklers, (along with the mathematical fact that we should grow exponentially then)...

I know recruiting noobs does have it's falloff factor, (1 in 5 I think it was?) but we also have less to worry about from ulterior motives and such. Just noting that in the recruiting piece, there was mention of who our enemies are. It kinda gives away some info to experienced players about who might be interested in paying them to infiltrate us. Noobs you have less security worries with.

While I'm all for getting pvp'ers on board, I wonder at what would draw an experienced pvp'er to a bunch of people that want to get better at pvp. Perhaps getting people on board to grow with us and learn while we learn might build a tighter group.

Just my two cents, but it's Dolly's fault, starting me thinking about this....

btw, tried recruiting a small corp last night, they had our capabilities, but when the CEO got on, the deal died. So I went to mission running until 2:00 AM.

yeah i was drunko last night big time :w00t:

the one thing he left out of the noobs is

alts created by other players are normally made fly right off to do their thing those we don't want but the ones chillin around the belts and deadspace locations in noobville are all trying to learn the game. so they would be safer than random noobs. won't screen out alt the alts but good percentage if you choose wisely who you talk to.

its not perfect due to it be an alcohol induced rant but its something.

Recruiting noobs is fine, as long as the level of stuff we're doing doesn't put them off. We don't need another fw4ppers corp, and I don't have the patience to teach people the basics when we as a corp are trying to do the advanced stuff. If you want to take on a small crop of noobs and learn 'em that's cool (and I must admit you're very good at it!), but we really need 5 - 10 really confident, capable PvPers to bolster our turnout right now.
