BEEF Server Again?

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

Well, do we want one?

Multiplay are offering Battlefield Series (2142 and BF2 ranked, BF1942 and Vietnam) Servers for reasonable money. (£135 for 32 slot unbranded (3month))

This will allow us to host BF2 and 2142 Ranked servers, and switch between them. Which is nice.

Obviously, cost per person will depend on now many people are willing to pay.

Count me in. Obviously I don't play 2142 but being able to swap between both will keep both groups happy and will allow for alternate days game scheduling.

The only reason interest was lost in BF2 was because we got rid of our own server in preparation for Quack Wars.

Nah, people lost interest before we lost the server. I'd be up for it, but it depends how many other people are - it's not something I can readily afford at the moment.

I think the problem we had with the last server as well is that we were a bit too kick happy. Sure it's fun, but it just meant that no one else used our server in the end.

Yeah running POE on a paid server wouldn't make sense because we'd be paying for a ranked server.

I am also interested in this, especially if it would be possible to switch it between 2 and 2142.

In principle I think it could be good, but both my gaming time and money are in short supply at the moment. I'm a bit unsure about how worthwhile it would be, but a combination of Beef and FutureBeef sounds like a good plan.

I don't mind putting a bit of money towards it if enough people are interested.

I am considering investing in some beef too as I certainly enjoyed the demo (playing against my boss while at work was great fun :)) especially getting hold of a jet and doing some very low level flying underneath the bridges

Yeah I'd pay again, although do I only have to pay half the amount as I don't want a 2142 server? :ignore:

Being able to switch between beef and future beef is nice, but I don't think we'd really need it that much. Future beef public servers seem to be much nicer than normal beef. If it's a bit of a hassle to switch it over to future beef I'd be happy just jumping on a public server whenever I feel the need for future shooty.

Werd to Dejects mother :w00t: ....

oh, no Vote. Erm... I'm happy just playing on public servers with other 5punkers to be honest.

It makes us behave better, and we only need to jump on an empty server if we wish to play <s>with</s>amongst ourselves.

To be honest, the only thing that makes a dedicated server worthwhile is the ability to add custom content or choose your own map cycle, other than that, I have never had issues playing on public servers, certainly not empty ones that we just flood and leave before anyone knows what happened.

So my answer is no, however I'd love it if we all kept playing Beef together again like this last week or so, as I really miss the game.

You mean, in that way that has seen at least half of us banned from a server every night we've played in the last week or so?

That 'enemy boat spotted' one doesn't count as they could have been real.

I could pay for that shizzle. been meaning to get into different games for awhile. (world of fairyness, gets too addictive sometimes) and the fact i would have paid towards a server would make me want to play. So Count me in.
