Big changes happening on the forum

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

Thanks to Stoat, and his fannytastical PHP coding skills, a number of things are going to change on this forum.

I won't go into detail what they'll be, but they have been done for a number of reasons.

1. Make 5punk less of a "scrollfest" when reading threads. Lots of people have moaned about this to me, and the changes will help stop this.
2. Less admin for admins  Rather than the traditional "reply to this thread" technique of getting added to 5punk, Stoat has come up with something different.
3. Change is good! Personally I always think that customising a forum to benefit it's members is a good thing, and also helps make us different from a very large number of clan/gaming sites out there on the net. This site/forum is not just some type of php database template with content added, it's had Stoat putting many hours into it with the Discussion Board, 5cheduler, Custom Profiles etc.. I've also spent many an hour collecting games from across the web, and adding/sorting them in the Arcade.

Hopefully you will all appreciate the changes, and once they go live, I'd like your feedback on it please

P.S. Bow down to Stoat, for he is the PHP master

All done, methinks.

Signitures are out the window. This should mean less scrolling for all, keeping those fingers full of trigger energy.
To compensate, your Xfire Profile is automatically placed at the top of your posts for all to see. No hiding those gaming hours for you any more.

And lasty, you nolonger need to add your name to the list when you join Xfire- updating your profile gets you your aforementioned miniprofile and adds you to the IDs list: <a href="xfired.php">Xfire IDs List</a>.

As usual, let me know of any problems.

Mini Update:

The <a href="xfired.php">Xfire Users List</a> will now show the newest members first. If they've been around for less than a fortnight they get a lovely spangy star next to their name to remind you to add them to your list.

Happy 5punking!

Bugger me, there's quite a few people on that list that I haven't added, due to them updating their profile, but (in the past) not replying to the thread like we used to do.

I suggest everyone has a look at the Xfire list, and makes sure everyone has been added, especially the last 20 or so.

I've added most of those, except I have tons of "OUTSTANDING INVITES".

I am much liking the new layout, while I sympathise with people who like fancy .sigs like what a lot of other boards have, it does make it a lot easier to get away with reading it at work.

Subtle but well worth it. Sigs are nice, but without them 5punk now looks like the fault reporting software we use at work (well, it's blue), so I can skive off easier :D
