T2 Rig Invention

Post by friznit »

T2 rigs are selling for a fortune, and unlike other T2 modules they don't seem to be dropping crazily at the moment.

We've got an Esoteric Tuner Data Interface BPC but would need to get the minmatar encryption methods skills book (350mill) and some materials to build it. Then it'd just be a case if BPC (rig BPO's are cheap so that's not a huge issue). So we can either club together and build this data interface thing, or use corp funds and pay the corp back later.

Questions:

Who's best placed to build the interface and do the invention?
Is the encryption skill needed for doing the actual invention job or just building the interface?
Would we need someone in 5punkience doing the inventing and if so would we be able to use the research POS to do it?
What other bits do we need to make invention work / better results?

Silver might be. Next minmatar encryption skillbook I get is going into his head, and I've been training alot of sciency type skills so I can do invention
friznit wrote:Is the encryption skill needed for doing the actual invention job or just building the interface?
Needed for inventing
friznit wrote:Would we need someone in 5punkience doing the inventing and if so would we be able to use the research POS to do it?
Afaik, POS labs don't get any bonus for invention slots, and NPC ones are still plentiful, however the copy slots on the labs would be amazingly useful, given that there's only 1/3 as many copy slots are there are ME/PE ones in NPC stations, and given this sudden demand for BPCs to invent with most of those are queued for days.

T1 rigs and decryptors would boost the odds, along with having the relevent invention skills up at 4.

I've been looking at ways of getting into this also. The only thing stopping me is the skill price.

Fear Reticle is also well placed to train such a skill and I've half been thinking of going for a corp loan* / ipo type thing to get the skill.

Just for arguments sake, whichever character is chosen, who would be willing to chip in money for this? I'd bung in 100 mil or more.

*I know all the money is out at the moment.

i know nothing about invention but i got kenny working on those along with production and research. He has the amarr, gallente and caladari encryption to lvl 1 i do believe (caladari might not but not sure at work). got all of the physics books to lvl 1 as well. I doubt I will be first there but he'll definitely be the first couple. (best part is it mirrors my cosmos production to a point :likesitall: )

:boogie:

i have been looking into the T2 ship production (ie Thrasher, Rifter, Slasher and Punisher). Bought all of the BPO, and gonna have -ience train them or set up another tower, not sure but most likely give to -ience (lazy) but I want ME40 on them and don't want to monopolize the labs.

Earliest Kenny will be there is 2 months unless i stop all his other training before then which is highly unlikely

Howdy all. I beleive i only need the encryption skill to be abkle to do the job. I will check what other skill i may need tonight when i get home.

230-250mil per encryption book about. Since i got amarr covered, the gallente is a no by the way (checked last night) i got some other skill book cosmos but have no clue what the name is. I have no problems buying the books, but i will only buy the ones that we have higher need for first. i got 300 mil so i'll buy the others as needed.

Had few minutes to think while i took the 7 min drive to work. I will still check on the skill to make sure where we are at for making the T2 rigs. Dolly dont worry about the station tie up. Our customer jobs are statrting to wain out, Your BPOs are almost finished also. The ones you sadi to throw in if nothing else was available. Charging for use of the station is more to cover the cost of fuel. I dont really care to make a profit off the research itself.

I will talk wiht Brubeck about our isk reserves and how we can get set up to make the skill book investment.

yeah if your on tonight we'll chat, maybe if your char, and mine and someone else's can work together to get this done faster. I am still undecided if I am gonna switch Kenny to T2 invention today or wait for this exhumer's 5 to finish in 10 days i think.

I brought the frig/destroy bpos to Tividu yesterday, they are in 5punk corp hangar there along with all of my bpos and salvage and mins if you want to just go in and get them. (Rifter, Slasher, Thrasher, Punisher are the new ones I would like to try invention on - some of the better pvp frigs i think)

the other book besides amarr encryption that I thought was gallente for some reason is:

Basic understanding of interfacing with Takmahl technology.

The Takmahl nation excelled in cybernetics and bio-engineering.

Allows the rudimentary use of Takmahl components in the creation of advanced technology, even though the scientific theories behind them remain a mystery.

by the way do I need to run R&D agent missions or is skills alone fine?

I'm guessing that everyone should get R&D agents too? From what I've read, datacores are the real bottleneck at the mo.

damn it i hate R&D missions, they are so boring. Now can i do the missions with dp and give the stuff to kenny or do i have to run them with kenny. dp can use the lvl 4 R&D for amarr and caladari now is why i ask. and i would rather do lvl 4 then 1 for what ever you get from them

You don't need to do the missions, just need the agent to get the RP's. If everyone in the corp has an R&D agent or two, we'll accumulate a lot of datacores with very little effort. Perfect.

Hmm, next question, but which agents does everyone have now, so we don't duplicate efforts in areas that don't need it, and can focus those that have never seen a R&D agent the trouble of figuring out which ones we need datacores for. (i.e. if we want to do this kind of rig, or that one, which agents do we need to look at?)

Also, do level 4 agents give more LP per day, or just have better datacore output? Since we're really not looking to get bpo's, does level matter?

To give a helpful answer ( :P ) Level does matter. High quality lv4 R&D agent gives out a base of around 80 RP a day, which equates to 8 datacores every 5 days. That scales with the field multiplier so X2 fields generate around 160 and X3 generate 240 RP a day, but conversly the cores in those fields cost 2 or 3 times more than base.
As for fields, most R&D agents have 4 or more fields you can research with them so if we have gross overlap we can cash it in for cores and change later on. Important thing there to note is the research project management skill (which I doubt most people will train) allows you more agents, not more fields with the same agent.

zomg i know you dumbed it down but i am still confused on this so you'll get tons of questions till I do some reading. kenny has those gravitation, high energy physics books for example, are those used for the fields? or the agents? or am i just confused?

also my invention and R&D agent whore should be the same?

please let the flaming commence

Jesus, can you not do yuor own sodding researching for once :P

Those books you refered to are field specific skills. Different agents allow research over different fields, and there's alot of cross over, but you do get racial fields. Dunno which ones those are exactly, but they'll be exclusive to those races agents. Flip side of this is that datacores, by and large are also racial (mechanical enginnering being a clear exception) which means if we only want to do minmatar gear, minmatar corps provide all we need.

If you like, I'll research, but I didn't know rigs were racial at all..... I thought we'd focus on those until the prices die on them, since it also ties in nicely with whoring Level 4's for the components. Kinda a WIN all around I thought.

Bump, and a question or three....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you don't have to do the mission for extra rp every day, is it worth it to have every alt you can build 'doing research' to max up the number of datacores you can get? That's like ZOMG alot of people across the corp!

Next question, are we just looking at rig invention atm, or are we looking at all possibilities?

And lastly...how do you gain standing with research agents so you can get level 4's? Are they factional, so your work with their race will help? Or were they picked on in school, and only hang out with sciency types that do missions for them and bring dancers to the party?

Only just started, but might be able to answer the last bit - higher ranked R&D agents have higher requirements before they'll even talk to you. Whereas I's need two specified skills trained to level I, the II's I've seen need around four at level II, mostly including the hard-to-buy/find ones like Astro-something.

Also, point of note, you don't need to train all the skills the R&D agent lists before you can talk to them, just the ones for the field you interested in performing R&D in.
