So...

Can someone summarize the whole plot of Halflfe 1 and 2? I played 1 a little bit, but stopped, and I played through 2 all the way, and I have no idea what in the hell it's all about.

Why not?

To be honest, I know very little about the background to either game, especially as I've never actually played the first one yet! Therefore you're likely to only get silly answers from me.

Which brings me very nicely back to:

Why not?

He's on a train.. Because that's where he regained physical conciousness.
Simply put, Gordon doesnt have a flying fuck of a clue where he is, or what year it is.. As far as he's concerned, the last thing he remembres was talking to the Gman at the end of HL1..

And then..

That.

You start on a train (well, monorail) at the beginning of HL, so I suppose it's kind of nostalgic to start on a train in HL2.

Mind you, you do in Blood 2 as well, so I don't know what that proves.

Oooh, that's good. I've played through both games, and most of that was new to me.

...and they say gaming isn't passive.

i think the HL series is good, because you get to choose how much interaction you have with the game.

you either ignore the plot and story, or you pay some level of attention to it.

neither really makes any difference

The Half-Life franchise has the potential to become an all-around sci-fi classic like BG or Star Wars. Marc Laidlaw has done an excellent job creating this universe.

Yay! This is the site I was looking for, I found it after completing HL2 and was in the same boat as NickFace, eg. WTF?

BTW: This book also has a lot of info and many pretty pictures, it covers HL1, HL2, CS and maybe a few other mods.
