The Rage (2142)

Post by Nickface »

Here's a good, honest to goodness question. I have briefly played 2142, and have not been subject to the multiplayer goodness involved within. A friend of mine, who I have been playing all battlefield games with since 1942, is really campaigning hard to get me to pick it up.

However, I really don't want to deal with "The Rage" anymore. He seems pretty certain that I would not get pissed and annoyed at this as much as I have at other BF games, which I am skeptical. Especially since while talking to him over Skype while he was playing, he tells me "Yeah, you are a lot more calm when you play this than--- THAT WAS FUCKING BULLSHIT!"

So, the question is, "Is the rage as bad as it was in BF2?"

It's different.

I find 2142 less fun than BF2 when it's going well, and less frustrating when it's going badly.

The Rage isn't as bad. It's still there, but then since playing BEEF I seem to get it in most games now. Incidentally, I just got the Northern Strike expansion.

I don't find it as bad as BF2 but it's still there. It really depends on your class preference I suspect, I find 2142 to be a bit more vehicle oriented than Beef so this may make a difference.

honestly, I think the rage hasn't really changed a whole lot. you still have rounds where you just can't buy a kill and it's easier to get confused because you have no reference to anything for the first few hours.

That said, I also think the fun hasn't changed a whole lot either. The new Titan mode is quite fun and the uptake on Norther Strike is better than either of the BF2 booster packs.

The way I see 2142 is it's like BF2 in a lot of ways, but it still feels like a different game.

I love the way that a computer game has turned you all into nutcases

Maybe "Beef Rage" can be added as a term for a mental condition :x

The rage made me smash my headphones, keyboard and knock my ash tray onto the floor once, best thing was, I inadvertently turned on scroll lock and spent about 2 minutes going " RAAAARGH, FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT WONT LET ME WALK BACKWARDS...FUCK, FUCKING FUCK" but then I jumped out and discovered i'd taken about 130 screenshots with xfire whilst mashing the keys in a blind rage instead of thinking. the rage is there, and its minimalist, robotic and has clean lines, because its futuristic you see. Thankfully, the headphones fixed, the keyboard suffered no lasting damage, and my ash tray was no where near as full as usual, because that would have made an unholy mess because my cancer stick habit is at about 40 a day at the moment, and the ash tray is very big because of it.
